I get this email and when i click on the "About" link and I read through the pages and i'm about shock to see that four of DMOZ editors are working on this commercialize directory. Is it me or do I not find this quite disturbing? Here's the link http://www.webxperience.org/the-editors.html
I don't see how it makes a difference? You're saying DMOZ editors aren't allowed to have directories of their own?
You're quite right, I don't think they should be running a commercial directories at all, this all proves on why DMOZ is kinda messed-up right now. All of this so called "editors" are out to make money, they use the "i'm a DMOZ editor" on a commercial website to influence any potential link buyer, maybe they will think since they are the "DMOZ" editors maybe they can list and add me at DMOZ if I pay here. Who knows what a visitors would think. It's very unethical
From what I gather, as long as editors are open about the sites they're affiliated with dmoz has no problems with what they do (to an extent of course). Do you think that the directory you mentioned is the only directory that dmoz editors also edit in?
Come to think of it, there are probably hundreds of them? I don't know, they sent me an email(advertisement) and found out and got my attention. Personally, I think they should stay out of the commercial directory business if they are active as editors at DMOZ or give up the editorial position at DMOZ and then go commercial for all I care.
