If you want to live near Himalayas, than $1000/month is more than sufficient. I think other Indians will agree with me.
hmm.. seems that you really love India specially himalyan region. well better if you go to nepal . 1000$ is enough for all comforts. in India you can go to chandigarh (punjab) for permanent address, and travel all other places you want to visit. in punjab SIKH People will really take care of you and really helpfull people!
Place like Himalayas or the North India is most economical and you let more food for less money. Lifestyle is simple and quite natural over there. Frankly speaking, my plan is to shift somewhere in the north more towards to the hilly regions and spend the rest of my life over there.
India is 1/4 muslim, that don't take kind to Americans. Go to India at your own risk. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Moving to India, mexico or anywhere else is going to have serious downsides. Youd be better off buying a house in detroit for 10,000 dollars (going rate now) if you want cheap living.
I don't see people will have any problem with Americans. But as the coin has two sides, the same applies to good and bad. You will find good and bad people everywhere. But as long as you are staying in your limits and people nearby do not have any problems with you, you will always be welcome. Besides, your interest in Buddhism is also a great idea. Just pack your bags and go ahead.
Have u ever visited India or do u live in India?? Only 1/10th of India are Muslims. And I think they have no problems with Americans.. The Himalayan region is one of the most peaceful areas in the world and I think u might find it tough to believe that no serious crimes happen in the Indian/Nepalese Himalayan region. People are very peace loving and honest in this region. I can say this on my own experiences.
Is still the OP is intending to come to India, I can assure that 1000$ a month would be more than enough to go somewhere near the Himalayas. I saw someone mentioning Dehradun and it is a nice place too. And regarding you being a foreigner, I believe we are good in treating guests properly! I don't think you you will encounter any problem in staying here in India !
Agreed with him. Live in Punjab. It is near Himalayas and There is majority of Sikhs in Punjab. Almost 70% are Sikhs. They are helpful people..
I also researching about these type of living, earning money on internet, living like a king in cheap countries... I look to wikipedia for GDP(per capita), and i find cheapest countries. I found Burundi in Africa, approximately each person in Burundi earns 120$ per year, so it must be really good when you earn 1000$ a month
I think your cerebrum and cerebellum are not intact.... There are countries where you may be willing to spend 500$, but there is nothing that costs you that much... I mean, you shouldn't consider living in countries where you will not get comfort and luxury even if you can afford and and willing to spend $$$$ for it.... Got my point ??
You can live easily in India except Metro Cities. Cost of Living other than Metro Cities are not much. You can live with your family with $1000.00 easily and also you can save some good amount.
Yeah.... Thats what i was saying.... There are places in India as costly as US, and places where it is totally different.
I was once visiting a remote village in the state of UP in India.. and you guys won't believe that I spent less than $.20 in the whole day.. As there was no place where you can even buy a bottle of coke.
What happened to the OP? Is he still interested to come to India or he changed his idea? He can lead the best luxury he can get, if he wants to live near the Himalayan region. And yes, people would love to learn English from an English man himself. So you may make even some extra bucks from it. But can't expect a lot of money from tuition. Because, it's Himalayan region.
