You can also automate the process of creating XML sitemaps by using Google's sitemap creation script or installing a CMS plugin to take care of the job for you. Both approaches will notify search engines of updated sitemaps and content.
google doesnt crawl every page at the same time.. it may come to your site, index the popular ones, and be gone again. The really deep pages only tend to be spidered every few weeks. Take a look at your site cache.. you'll see the homepage will have a cache date much newer than that of some of the deeper pages. This is simply because google has arrived, indexed the important pages, and gone again. Make sure your internal sitelinks give prominence to the page you want indexed, include it on every page. This will help, As will deep IBL's. XML sitemaps will tell google the page exists, but unless you have a lot of internal links to the required page, the sitemaps will tell google that the page isnt very important (depending on how the XML file is generated). you can of course alter the XML file manually to give better importance to that page if you want. Also, remember that the XML will normally include when that page was last altered, so update it regularly. But, in general, internal linking and regular page updates should do it.
