i a running a weight loss pills review site at http://www.weight-los-pills.info .do .info domain will affect my site ranking. i did not see any site with .info domain in google front page. and also i mentioned "los" for "loss" do it affect my ranking.
The domain tld does not matter unless it is a country specific tld and you are trying to get rankings in that specific country. You can still get rankings with a .info. You just don't see many .info domains on the first page of Google searches because most people would still chose the more traditional domains instead. As for using 'los' instead of 'loss' in your domain...Google likely won't notice this. Just don't use 'los' in your links or on your page. A search engine spider might just assume you are talking about a city like los angeles. I don't think it would have much affect on your seo, but you don't have the benefit of having the word 'loss', which could help rank better for phrases that include that word.
thanks for the nice info. i too planned to have the domain belmos.com if i can't able to sell the domain in BST.
for the last 4 years a lot of Black SEo professionals used .info domains for a networks of doors to spam google. So now google didn't like info domains. It's hard to say what to do in this way.... keep trying. Add quality backlinks.. you have to pass this doorway filter.
da4455 I think that may be more myth than anything else. People just saw lots of spammers using .info domains, so a lot of good seo's just avoided those domains to be on the safe side. As a result few .info domains got good Google rankings. Plus older more established domains using older tld's were crowding rankings partly due to their age. I doubt Google would penalize an entire tld. That would be like penalizing al pharmacy or gambling websites just because there are a lot of spammers in those niches.
Agreed, the TLD doesn't matter, its all about how much you promote your site. With .Coms being scarce these days, I think people are getting used to the idea of having different TLDs and are relating to them more so than before.
well .com or even .org domains always get a higher rating in google... google just loves them more that other domains
With good seo and backlink building it doesn't matter. I have a .info domain I started last month, just the other day with the PR update, I went from 0 to PR2. My domain also ranks with some of my targeted long tailed keywords. In the end it is how your promote your site if you want traffic and rankings.
I rarely see an .info site achieving top ranking in google, but I'm sure you can drive traffic to it.
but .info domains don't have much value. for example, take this blog http://www.mydigitallife.info. it has 1000's of subscribers, but i don't see the url of the blog anywhere .......
I have had no problem in getting Google PR on .info sites. Cannot see that Google will devalue a site due to its tld.
Completely untrue. Some of my most successful sites are .info domains, and the reason they are successful is because of top rankings. If your into site flipping, a .com may get preference over a .info - as this is user preference - not google. But that's the only difference I'd see in a .info domain.
