Getting 1st place at Yahoo is not as hard as getting 1st place at Google.com and it does not take as long as getting listed at the top of MSN.com It seems like the sites that I have at the top of Yahoo are almost always also at the top of MSN, but not always at the top of Google. Most webmasters and SEO Experts can agree on the fact that; Google tends to favor more off page factors like lots of links from different sources. With Yahoo and MSN most webmasters will find that if you really optimize your on page factors (almost to the point of "over-optimizing") and get a few good backlinks, particularly contextual ones, then it's easy to get high placement for the keywords and keyword phrases that are defined during the SEO process. I have personally noticed the same thing with a few of my websites. I was at the Top 10 of Yahoo and the Top 10 of MSN for my selected keywords, and my web with the same keywords at Google did not have near as good of placement. In a few cases in fact, I did not spend any time at doing external search engine optimization for the websites at all, to get first page placement for many keyword phrases that I defined when internally optimizing the website. I quickly figured out the website were listed at the top because they had very good content and great internal search engine optimization done to them during the development. I have found that at is easy to optimize websites with keywords for Yahoo just as many people seem to frequently experience. Some of my websites seems to do better in Yahoo at times, but on average I am able to get at least (x3) three times more traffic from Google.com compared to Yahoo.com Getting 1st Place at Yahoo.com can take a lot long that getting 1st Place at Google.com, but Yahoo may bring your website up for different keywords, so it could still help you get extra free targeted traffic to you website that could translate in to a few more sales per day/week/month.
yea I my new site just a week old was in the first page of msn and in the first 4 pages for other keywords, while in google I can't even find it.
It has always been the case actually. Most of my sites are at the top of yahoo just because of the chosen domain and some other factors like good content. I hardly have any links to my sites and they do well. This is my past site that I sold off: http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=top+golf+membership&fr=yfp-t-501&ei=UTF-8&rd=r1 and my one fan site is 4th in yahoo for the term aion online (without quotes. Same for the keywords for my site that I sold off). http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search;_...Qx.?p=aion+online&y=Search&fr=yfp-t-501&rd=r1 I guess people are too busy worrying about google and neglect yahoo a lot these days. Not much competition for me and I love it since I get good traffic from the search engines.
I seem to have the opposite problem. I have been on the top of Google for about 2 years for the key term My space friend finder. But can seem to get there with yahoo or msn Search any Ideas? with my spiderfood911 Blog. Its a Wordpress blog. Any ideas What I can Do ? Thanks
Yahoo saved one of my sites when I got hit with a Google penalty. Never ignore them, they can be very handy.
any specific method to rank high in yahoo? i never achieve that kind of privilege before even though i submit my url to yahoo sitemap
Yahoo seems to like websites that have optimized well for internal SEO factors. Hyperlinks with internal anchor text, relevant title tags, and relevant content seem to be some of the most important factor when it comes to optimizing a website for top placement at Yahoo.
Yahoo is not neccessarily easier they just have a different algorithum which alows the webmaster more control. Yahoo looks for on site SEO which you can optimize for via your content and meta data, abd Google looks more for quality backlinks which you have much less control over.
Hey all I do is add my site to my my.yahoo.com page AND throw up a screen shot on Flickr and I'm golden. I didn't know all that about Yahoo's preference for on site being more important... I agree with johngfcarey, rank in Google and it'll help with yahoo and aol, not too sure about msn. yahoo and aol claim right on their page that they use Google results.
getting 1st place at yahoo is easy if youve got the keywords in the domain, otherwise its work work work
Another point about Yahoo is that it begins counting links as soon as it finds them while Google will evaluate them for a while before crediting them.
I agree. It is easier to get to the top of Yahoo and MSN. I just noticed this lately with a couple sites of mine. I have a couple new ones that I targeted phrases and got to the top of Yahoo quick. I get about 3000 UV's a month from Yahoo and only a 1000 from google and the site is 2 months old.
I have had the same experience myself; a few websites did better at Yahoo compared to traffic from Google when I first launched them. Most of the time the majority of my traffic comes from Google, but not always.
to get top in yahoo, msn is easy but in google u need to quality link juice and well optimization and content
