Nameservers info

    Hi

    I need some info please about nameservers in a new unmanaged dedicated server.

    Do i have to get the nameservers from my hosting company or i must setup them manualy ?

    What does private nameservers are?

    I need some info please in general and where i will find the nameservers so i can setup them?

    NS1
    NS2

    I think that i will need somethink like :

    NS1.HOSTING.COM -->With my main ip
    NS2.HOSTING.COM --> Another ip ?

    What is the difference to use company name e.x NS1.COMPANY.COM and my NS1.MYNAME.COM?

    You can use either your server provider's DNS or you can setup your own nameservers. I suggest to setup your own nameservers.

    Correct, you can also do this via your registrar (if you have a decent one.) I find that the cPanel customer support is extremely helpful when setting up a dedicated server for the first time. Most of the time they explain/do it for you. You can contact them via support ticket at https://tickets.cpanel.net/submit/index.cgi?reqtype=tickets

    Note: You'll find your license number in WHM within the Support Category titled "Support Center"

    In the case of a dedicated server you will almost certainly have to use your own name servers. The way this works is that you have to go into your domain registrars control panel and select an option to add "child name servers". Then you name them something like ns1 and ns2 and give each one on IP that is assigned to your dedicated server. Then you have to set all your domains nameservers to ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com.

    Ok so i have 4 ip's from my provider.

    I have to go to godaddy and add there the
    NS1.MYNAME.COM --> point to ip that i plan to use as main --> 123.123.123.123
    and add also the
    NS2.MYNAME.COM --> one other ip from the 4 that i will get --->321.321.321.321

    Then where i must go to Whm to add the settings?

    In WHM, go to "Nameservers IP" and enter your nameservers one by one.

    It will assign random IP address. So you will need to make sure that you have set correct IP address in your registrar control panel.
