Launching an innovative site, what promotions should I do?

I'm looking for advice on promoting a new site. The site is fairly innovative so it should at least garner some attention.

What are the best ways to promote a new site?

Well, here's some traffic tips. If your site is innovative, why not try getting your site reviewed by relevant major review sites (if you have techy sites, use something like Techcrunch etc.)

Seriously, being innovative is great for your ego but doesn't garner any attention. trust me, I've been there.

You need to get the word out using a medium that is favorable with your target audience. If you don't know what that is or it is too varied, I suggest putting a short 30 second video ad together that communicates your unique value proposition clearly and concisely. Then wrap it with an incentive if people forward it to their friends.

Let me know if you need help with the video production or the video ad distribution.

Sorry for going beside the OP....but my question may help others, hopefully

But how do I add a tech related site to techcrunch ? Or do you mean at Crunchbase ?

The only thing I see at techcrunch that is on topic is the Company Index.

Any help that can answer this would be very kind.

I would go with a press release. Then just stick with the basics exchanging links, submitting to directories, blog commenting, social bookmarking, and the rest it is kind of late so I can't think of anymore right not. The big one though for when first starting a site would be release a press release. Hope this helps.
