Well, Today something like this happened for 1st time with me.

I am using a PNB ATM CARD..!!

There is no nearby ATM of PNB so i thought of Withdrawing from SBI ATM.

The Problem is that the ATM machine displayed "LAST TRANSACTION : TIMED OUT"

BUt when i called customer care of PNB they told that money has been withdrawn and deducted from my account.

What to do now?? As i havn't got my money and its been deducted

Will they return it to my account??:(

One more thing, is there anyone who knows the meaning of error code 072 in ATM's??

In most of the cases like you , automatically will get back money within 24 hours....If u did not get back, you can complaint in your bank with written letter.. Better if u have any transaction id like mini statement paper..

Do this now..go to any atm and take mini statement printout....and attach it with your written letter...Mention the atm name(location , bank name) , last available balance, current available balance , approximate time of error made..

I know, All persons who met the problem will get back their money..No problem...

This is highly unusual and weird....

Did you get the transaction slip and does it show the debited entry?

If yes, you should have alerted the person in charge of the ATM and should have taken the remedial action then and there itself, before leaving the ATM.

I hope you did alert the official that you were not able to get the money, before checking out!

That SBI ATM machine didnt even give any transaction slip. It just displayed on its Screen that LAST TRANSACTION : TIMED OUT.

ANd after that when i tried again it gave a slip and nothing was written there except "SORRY UNABLE TO PROCESS"

By the way i talked to Bank Customer Care and they said it will be credited to my account within 24 hours.!

And if this doesn't happens then i can file a complaint !!

Hope i get my money within 24 hours !!

No problem about inform in atm without leaving..

I knew more experiences of this problem with my friends..

Inside ATM, The cash debited in your account will be in a separate box, which is called Retract box..This box collects the money when people wont take the money within allocated seconds and the Erros made like you...So No problem..You will get back your money...

In spite of the great software and technology available at their disposal, the banks continue to treat the customers shabbily....

They need 10-15 days (or even 45 days!!!...BS)to credit back the money, which got trapped due to bad transaction!

Who will bear the cost of money over this extended period? They just want to rip off the customers so that they can use the money freely.... :(

stay away from ATMs of nationalized banks. These banks SUCK! and they cant even look after their atm's and they have poor maintenance along with 100's of problems in their ATM.

As from april 1, 2009 atm withdrawal from other bank atm in india should be free.
