    Hello Jasmine,

CTR is click thru rate. It is the number of clicks divided by the total amount of impressions (the amount of people who have viewed your advert). Maintaining a high CTR means that your ad is relevant to wha the user is searching for, Google's mission statement is to provide a relevant service to the public so Google will therefore reward you for having a high CTR. This reward is in the form of paying less for each click while having a low CTR will result in paying more than usual for that click.

To improve your CTR make sure your keywords, adverts and landing page are all relevant to eachother. Add negative keywords to cut out irrelevant traffic and try a variety of ads to see which one does best (allowing you to remove the lowest performing on in the future). There are many things you can do to improve the CTR, just ask if you want more details. The quickest way to achieve a high CTR is to increase your CPC as this will put you in the highest positions (people will only click on your ad if it's relevant though!)

    here's my approach:
    1) pick your keywords (using google tools or wordtracker)
    2) group your keywords together (like per product type etc)
    3) create ad group for each group of keywords
    4) create at least two ads for each adgroup, making sure to have main keywords in title
    5) target ad positions 2-3
    6) keep an eye on your stats and keep refining your keywords (add more to get more impressions/clicks, eliminate poor performing and add negative keywords to improve your efficiency)...

    Some great suggestions Scott,

Additionally I would suggest to Jasmine to run separate Search and Content campaigns so they can be properly tracked and managed.

I like adding at least one keyword in the description as well.

It's a good idea to do a lot of reading and start with a low budget until you start getting a feel for it.

    Good luck.

    Hi Jasmine1

Google Adwords can be as simple or as complex as you like. The days of making money by slapping in a few words and setting high bids is long gone in the PPC arena. There are very few (if any) niches where you'll get away with this. Doing so will ensure you become one of very very many ignorant bidders, pushing up prices and adding to Googles coffers.

The good news however is all the information you need is already out there in the public domain and all is free. Start with the excellent Adwords Training Videos provided by Google - google.com/adwords/learningcenter
