I have a blog on a gpt site and making money online. Now I can post live links yet, but I joined to help me get ideas and converting visitors into referrals. I hope that I came to the right place. If you guys could give the blog a look and let me know anything. I was looking for ideas for "call to action" items. I believe that is what I am lacking. I must lack the ability to think of them because I get approx 40 unique visitors a day and no conversions. Help would be appreciated. but your going to have to cut and paste. I know its a pain (http://cashinacrate.blogspot.com)
Well you came to the right place, and I'm going to put it to you straight. 40 U's a day is hardly enough traffic to make any money on at all, you will need far more than that to make an income. Your blog is one of 1000's that are exactly the same, not to mention it's using a template that is available for millions of other bloggers to use, so there is no originality The problems you are having are 2 fold, first it is obviously a new blog, so you will have to work your SEO very hard to build traffic. Second...it's pretty plain, and not a very impressive design. People on the web are very visual, and they equate the way a blog looks with it's credibility...just like anything else in life, and in business. Just putting up a free blog and throwing some banners on it, will not make you any money. It seems everyone in the free world has a blogger "make money online" blog. What is going to be special about yours? If you are serious, you have to make your blog look like you are serious. You need a better design. If you are in this for the long haul, you need your own domain and host your own blog. People are pretty hip to the fact that blogger blogs are free to anyone, so it is very difficult these days to get them to believe that you are a respectable business, and not some 12 year old kid in his mom's basement. If this is a business, you need to treat it like one, right now it looks like a hobby. You need to make your blog, not just better, but one of the best. With the best content, that is original for anyone else in your niche. JMO Edited: I stand corrected I looked at your post history, and either I am seeing it wrong, or since July of '08, you have posted the exact same information over and over again. I think you should consider making a landing page for your product and promote it that way.
Nice one, hmansfield. gpt blogs are getting worst. They use the term make money online, but they don't realize making money by getting referrals is not a convincing approach. It's even funny that gvannorman is publishing contents about traffic and making money, but he himself is asking help from this forum.
I was just asking for some advice and a review. I personally dont want anyone to think that I believe that I am expert on getting traffic or anything else. If you guys dont want to help. I fine with that. I was told that this forum is a place for good advice. I do also agree that GPt blogs are a dime a dozen. Maybe I should just review the top bunch of those and try to mirror them. I do appreciate your guys assistance with this. Thank you
You don't want to exactly mirror them, but you can get some good ideas by looking at people that are already making money. Even if you struggle with SEO, or bum marketing, there are 2 things you know you need no matter what...a great theme or design, and good content. Tackle what you can first, and move to the next mission. If you really want to succeed you will eventually have to spend some money on something...you can't do this all for free and expect to make maximum money. Default templates, with no modifications, and just words and banners will not make it on today's web. You need to look good enough that people don't even notice how good it looks (if that make sense)...IOW, you don't want the lack of good design to stand out...no one is going to get past that to read the content..they will move on to the 500 other webmasters that have gone the extra 10 miles.
Well, I know nothing about making templates. So, maybe I should look for a html editor and set the page up the way I think it should look. Not sure if that works or not. And I plan on buying a domain and parking it with Godaddy.
I don't know anything about making templates either, once you start looking around to how the code is set up, you will start playing around with moving things around, just remember to keep back ups for when you mess up and your blog crashes (I've done it a million times) I usually find a premium one that I like, and then get to hacking until it looks the way I want. After a while it gets to be pretty easy. Take it slow, don't try and do everything at once...you learn as you go along. Not saying you have to get all Leonardo Da Vinci or anything, there are many, many templates that are just perfect the way they are for the purposes that you need them...you just want to make it your own...with your own logo, and custom colors and such. It goes a long way towards branding. Unless you have someone build one for you, no template is original, but you can make it original to you. One thing at a time, don't get overwhelmed with things that you can't do right away...make a game plan and do what you can, when you can...the more you do, the more you get into it, and when you start seeing results, or people commenting on it...it makes you want to do and learn more. Content is always key..but when you are surfing around, just look for a few ideas of how you really want it to look. It is easier than it sounds. And you don't have to purchase a theme , there are 100's of great free templates out there that look great. I only purchase one that blows my socks off and I can't live without it...when I said spend money, you will eventually see stuff that you want...maybe a custom script of plug in to make the user experience better...maybe an email marketing program like Aweber..there are all kinds of things that will help you...and some are just cool as hell...but when you start making a little money with it, you will start to reinvest in stuff. Even if it's just your next website.
Most people who are successful at blogging about making money online, already know how to make money online. It's a crazy Catch 22, something to do with Authority and Credibility.
Yeah, and it's really a bad idea to blog about "making money online", if you haven't actually made any money online because you won't make any money. (Hope that makes sense)
I believe that also. Its easier to tell people how to make money online if you actually have made money online. Maybe I am trying to run before I walk. Thanks guys.
