ok, I am super new to this. I am familiar with Blogger, but I have heard Wordpress is better. What's the argument for this?

Sorry if this is bad question.

Self hosted Wordpress is the best for blogging because you have full control of it. With so many themes and plugins that you can download make it the #1 choice for blogger.

Having so many free plugins available, you can optimize your wordpress blog to maximum level. Some best plugins are All in one SEO, that really helps boosting your search engine ranking...... one other is Google xml sitemaps plugin, that's a lso great for better indexing and so on........

Please, write me if m' still unclear!

IMO, There is no comparison. Word Press is for serious bloggers. Blogger is for hobbyist. And any free blogging service, is not for making serious money.

If you are blogging to make money, word press (if done properly) gives off much more of a professional appearance, more design and template options, 1000's of plug ins for customization and user experience, and much easier to "hack" to create your own look and theme functions.
It is compatible with just about any code or script that you want to add, and is updated frequently with improvements.

Many of the top publications, like the New York Times use Word Press for their blogs, as well as most major Universities for their student .edu blogs.

You can run one blog with word Press, or thousands on one install (Word Press MU). Word Press is completely open source, and is open to developers for improvements and additions and is completely supported by it's user community.

The best thing going for blogger is it's owned by Google, but it's the one thing that they are not the best at.

To be honest i wouldn't even compare the two, wordpress is a few years ahead as far as i see it, wordpress even though its started as a blogging platform is a script chosen over some other scripts even when the main idea for some sites is not just for a blog.

I see wordpress getting stronger all the time, i love that its updated so often, its totally flexible with plugins, themes and plenty of people willing to custom code for it.

I think everything that has been said basically sums it up. Wordpress is for those serious about blogging. The customization available to it blows away blogger. I feel like every blogger site looks the same, which really does not do much for branding either.

I can think of several blogger blogs that make $1000s a day. It all depends on how you use it.

There is no doubt about it ! At this point comparing Blogger to Word Press is like comparing a Scooter to a Limo..they'll both get you where you need to go, but status is not the same.

I have been able to do some things with word press that I could have never done with blogger. I even use it to build landing pages now. It's just too good !:)

So can I, from respected people in a certain niche that have expertise..they can pretty much use anything, but for unknowns to stand above the rest and be noticed...I just don't see the professionalism in many blogger blogs. There is always an exception...but I have seen some noobs do some fabulous things with Word Press that is just not possible with blogger.

It's of course a personal choice. Some people like ease of use that blogger offers, but I find Word Press to be very easy once you roll up your sleeves, the possibilities are endless.

It's a question that gets asked over and over. You might want to try searching for it as well, and reading other posts.

You can be successful with either, its personal preference. Wordpress offers a lot more customization options with the amount of plugins it has, but you can get by with either.

If you to like to be more serious and willing to invest some money go for wordpress. If you not sure what you want, as for a start you can go for blogger which not incur money.
