Well, if I saw that many links in an article I would not accept it. Alot of article directories do not like links in articles, I accept some links but not that many. At least if you plan on submitting to article directories. I would just make a page off your domain with a list of each type.

One one link, say to resources. Then on that page, all those links, with say some sort of review? For sure, a link laden article would not be accepted in my article directory.
I'd say 'Be honest'. You say that Free non-recip directories takes very little time and costs nothing... So many free articles sugar coat everything. Why not tell it like it is. ALL directory submission is intensely boring and repetitive. Is it worth it? - well for a new site, IMHO yes. For an older site that has neglected its SEO, yes. Instead of slinging out all the links to dirs that can be found anywhere, give some advice on tracking the subs process. I've come across a few sites lately that help this process along but what I don't see them include is a record of how you submitted - what anchor text, description text. Your article is - sorry - a bit meatless. Why not include advice on not using the same anchor text, linking to a few internal pages. Agree there are too many links. Instead of linking to those big dirs, inform your reader how to find the kind of niche directory that might do them the most good.
For the people that own article directories: how many links should I put in each section and still be able to be accepted? 3 in each? 5 in each?
Only speaking from a webmaster pov, not an art sub pov, I am far less likely to use an article that has a huge author box. I don't mind one or two non-affy links within an article but see no reason to publish some of these articles where the authors credentials are damn near as long as the content

Ditch the three links in the BIO one is quite enuff, I would just say serach purplr for the other two. Having three of the same clickable link in one paragraph looks to much like Link spam IMHO. Not sure what search engines would think about that either, considering you have it in the article as well.
That is a very good idea. Because then all of the links on the article are to your site. Make it so people reading the article need to visit your site to get all the info
