Does it matter if your link backs are from high PR sites, or do backlinks in general help you, no matter the PR. I am trying to build links with sites that are in my niche, but some of the sites I trade links with are not big, and have no PR.

if you can get a link from something in your niche, damn well take it :)

PR helps, but is not the be-all, end-all. Think of the link itself being a "notch" in the right direction. Then, think of a link with pr to be a notch in the right direction, PLUS, a notch for each pr level, (notches increase exponentially as pr goes up - meaning a jump from pr5 to pr6, is much better/harder than a jump from pr1 to pr2)

I see. So basically link with everyone in your niche. PR10 or PR0. I get it. So far I have been doing just that and it's been working very well.

    Thanks for the reply

Exactly! Everyone gets way too obssessed with the PR of their links. As long as your links are relevant to your site, go ahead and use them ;)

As long as a site has been cached and is in my niche I'll bite their hand off to get a link :) They all count

If you are getting one-way links, make sure the pages are being crawled (check the cache) and think theme relevancy.

The sites you exchange links with should also be good neighborhood. Not using any black-hat SEO techniques. Or you get penalized for linking to them.

The PR doesn't really matter. What's more, it's actually good to get your links from pages with different PR, because it's a more natural scenario. I think if all your 10 links have PR 8 while your site is PR 0, Google will think you simply purchased these links... Could devalue them.

For me, PageRank ranking on a link is a bonus. I want links that people will see and use to get to my website.

Many links that I get created for me start out on pages with NO pagerank. In time, many of those pages will eventually accumulate pagerank, and that is a plus.

PageRank does not pay my bills. Human beings who visit my website, buy my services and pay my bills.

So, when I am doing linking for myself, my first goal is to land my links on pages that people read, and to provide enough of an incentive with my link to get the human being to my sites.

Then I let my website do the selling so that I can make money to pay my bills.

This system has worked well for me since 1999, and I will continue to use it for the indefinite future.
