Cautionary tale when building backlinks!

So the other day i was building up my backlinks as you do, anyway came across this site which had some very interesting stuff, so i read it and liked most of it but felt the writer had other factors he should consider. So anyway i noticed he' had many links left in the comments. So i e-mailed him asked if he wouldn't mind me adding a link to my comment. He said yeah sure go ahead and if i get time i'll actually add it to my sites. So being polite i said well i'll make sure i add your site. Anyway added my comment with 1 link. 2 days later i check my site and on every page was 1 comment each saying nice work with 12 self serving links to his sites, including 3 porn sites. Now remember i have quite a few articles so getting rid of them all was no easy task.

Never in my life have i come across such a persistant link spammer.

So i guess the moral of the story is be careful who you link too! Mind you dont worry all that much its only been the one person so far.

Anybody else had any similar experiences?

You are lucky if that is the only persistent spammer that you have dealt with. I have semi-automated link exchange forms on my websites that keep getting hit up by the same guy using password 123456. I've told him numerous times that I will never approve his junk websites, but he just keeps submitting anyway. I eventually had to setup an outlook filter rule just to filter his submission to a separate folder. Because of all the junk link exchange requests I get I will likely delete my link pages soon.

This is why it is important to find ways to mass-remove any spam on your website. I setup scripts to automatically delete certain submissions and decline certain e-mails. Perhaps you could do something similar for your blog.

I high traffic website I run gets around 1500 spam comments daily plus around 30 link exchange requests that are automated. The main thing is just don't link with someone unless they have been around for at least 6 months and are reputable.

I receive such emails too on link exchanges.
Maybe, this is a new trend in getting backlinks or traffic.

IMO, they might have a list of email to send this request anyway.

Scarey story, I'm glad you were able to get rid of it and it isn't continuing. I will take notice and be cautious with my sites in the future. Thanks for the warning.

Its a shame, but those spammers are like the bad apples that ruin the bunch... and they DO have a way of ruining those bunches...

That sucks. I wonder if he wrote some script to be able to quickly blast through your site and post those comments. Anyways, yes, its a pain to clean up after stuff like that goes on. I feel for ya!

I have also created programming articles and submit it to a website that accept my articles. A backlink is any link coming in to your site from another site.I have three articles. Backlinks are very important when optimizing your website for search engine popularity. more

Yes, even worse when they are offering illegal or copyright services, last thing i'd want is my Google account affected by someone spamming free porn links. Or getting lower serps because of an illegal site. Personally i think spammers ruin it for the rest of us since if less people spammed, advertisers might be willing to pay more for their adverts.
