I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question about duplicate content Say I publish an article on my site… then publish it all across the net (i.e. article sites, etc) 1) is it considered duplicate content? 2) Is the value (in terms of SEO) of the article lower if there are 100 different websites with it? 3) If it’s in different formats (i.e. html, pdf, etc) is it still considered duplicate if it’s on my website. 4) If it’s in different formats (i.e. html, pdf, etc) and is on hundreds of different sites, what effects does this have? Basically, I have 100 unique, well written, articles that I’m about to publish on my site. I’m wondering if blasting them out to all the article sites, etc is going to help or hinder. Any feedback, advice, ideas, etc would be more than welcome
There's some useful insight on this subject available from a free ebook posted on this page: Duplicate Content Debate
Don't submit contents to article directories that you've posted in your site. Google will read them as duplicate contents; your site won't rank as a consequence. Spin your articles or better yet, rewrite them.
If you have any article which you have placed in you website then it would be better if you wait the article on your website indexed by search engine first. As soon as article page of your website is indexed and cached by search engine then you can submit that in to the article directory. Search engine would not consider the article on your website as duplicate article as its already indexed and would be consider as the genuine content. Thanks Parul
if you want to submit/syndicate the same article posted on your site to the article directories, then i would suggest that you post the article on your site first, wait for the article to get indexed, then syndicate the article. multiple copies of the same article on 3rd party sites will not give you any penalty. what will happen is that Google will not index all the duplicate content pages. you will get few pages indexed if you are lucky and the rest will be removed from indexing
I think, you are very right indeed! First, the page should be indexed in search engines and then only one should think of placing in the article directories!
think about your content and order website, if some are similar maybe you got a copy of this content. Or In your website have 2 different url but both link to the same page, that's your problem about duplicate. so that just some idea about it, you need to learn more Good luck
Duplicate content is a myth, get over it.. lol, i just opened another thread here to get one of my domains indexed in google, so i am not very good at seo, but mark my words, "duplicate content is a myth"
if you are publishing same article with out any change in different articles or sites then it leads to duplicate content.what i say is google always like fresh content.if you have unique content in your site then crawling your site will be more frequently.it increase quality of your site.
The argument never ends about how search engine treat about duplicate content. In my point of view if you have a content and want to syndicate in different article directory, there will no harm and cant be treat search engine in different way. Articles are subjected to the benefit to society. please be sure that you are not promoting your product or site in form of articles.
the 'argument' is pretty much over. The 'commonsense' view won, because that's actually what search engines do. It's explained here
hi I think its better to get the articles added to your website first and then getting them indexed After this is done you can easily post to various article directories but while doing this too spinning the articles would be a much more viable option thanks, ankur
I agree with that too. I think it is just safe to secure your content with Google first. I got a good advice from an expert in SEO and article marketing. He suggested sending lighter version of your articles for promotion. Do not send the same exact text that you used on your website. Doing this with the suggestion from sultanofseo will be a winning situation.
Actually Nothing can be unique in my view, only unique is the expression how do you expressing them. But overall above discussion is interesting.
You can't go wrong with spinning or rewriting the original article on your site, then submitting 2 or more versions to article directories
yes true..if your original article on the site gets indexed then u can submit to other article directories..but it would always be better if that article is rewritten..
Duplicate content plus backlinks will beat original content with no links. For proof look at the Viagra boys. They get first place with 100,000 backlinks and no content at all! What is an "Article? We all know it is 400 words of fluff wrapped around a long tail keyword. Whether we write it, buy it, spin it or steal it we know they are rubbish. So why submit one to an article directory? Or 100 article directories? To get a backlink. In theory some discerning person (or people) will be so impressed with the quality of our prose that they will "syndicate" it which will give us more backlinks (but more duplicate content) What REALLY happens is that it might get scraped by spammers who use it on their own auto-generated Adsense site. Oh wow. What an honor. So we don't really want articles at all do we? We want real quality (not junk) information on our own website and we want backlinks. Well, if you just want backlinks from high PR on-topic blogs you can use a tool like Comment Kahuna or similar to comment on other people's sites and get a do-follow backlink. Or you can fire up a totally Black Hat tool like Xrumer and spray your links all over the internet. Or you can create such a genuinely high quality site that people will link to it because it is so darned good or funny or interesting. Think about it. We don't really need articles. At least we don't need the spammy rubbish we jokingly call articles) We just need backlinks and there are easier ways to get them.
