Please help me guys. Last week i changed my site Title. i just rearranged keyword in title. And made some internal linking.

First it was :- ABC , DEF.

I changed it to:- DEF | ABC.

Due to this, 2day when google crawled my site, my ranking was dropped.

Before change it was as follows:-

For KW ABC :- 3rd Position
For KW DEF :- 7th Position.

    After change,

For KW ABC :- 7th Position
For KW DEF :- 9th Position.

Please help me what to do??? Should i wait for some week?? Or replace Title again.

Yeah, you have to change it back or it would have to rank for the new title all over again.

it is so obvious to change it, as ranking comparison reveals the result of changing title, so do not wait, change your title.

That's normal. Changing your site like that gives a temporary dip in ranking... but when it's removed, you might rank even better than before.

Always give stuff a week or two before checking if it's made a difference or not. Same thing goes for link building - if it's instant, there's no competition :)

When I changed my title I disappeared from the SERPs for about a week and then I came back in a better position then I was before I changed it. Hope you get a similar result! Cheers!

SERPs change all the time so you can't be sure that shuffling the order of words in our title caused the change. Maybe your competitors just got a bit better. Wait a couple of weeks and if you are still down, change the title back. In the meanwhile, build a few links with anchor text matching the keywords in your title.

Dont worry about it. Especially right off the bat.

When you change something on your site like that, expect at least 2 weeks for things to stabilize.

I always include the most important keyword phrase that I am targeting for the page first in the <title> element. Then 2nd most important keyword phrase (if applicable)... Then 3rd most important keyword phrase (if applicable). I usually target a single keyword phrase... sometimes 2-3 keyword phrases if they are very similar (like <title>blue widgets - big blue widgets - hard blue widgets</title>)

Just like content near the top of the page is considered more important than content at the bottom (because it's typically where you layout what the entire page is going to be about with things like an <h1> element and the opening paragraph), I believe Google and others look at where keywords appear within important SEO elements like the <title> or <h1> element.

Well, these kind of scenarios are normal :) Don't worry much about it, just continue in optimizing your site using your targeted keywords. After few days, your exact ranking will show up!

    I had a my title ,

    XXX | XXXXXXXXXXXXX,XXXXXXXXXXXXXX,XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Its ranked 1-2 in Google for all of its keywords..

Yesterday,I have chnaged it to XXX - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,XXXXXXXXXXXXX,XXXXXXXXXXX

Read from some EO Forum that, | is not good for titles..
So remved it after 7 months ranking 1 st in Google...

Lets see,if I still get on top with this new title..
If it doesnt get through, then I will change it back..

Build a few links with your new arrangement of keywords in your title. But I wouldn't fret too much about it. By the way how long did it take google to index your site differently...talking about the title showing the change in the actual search result?

No need to replace your title again. Google will take some time for get back your old SERP again however you continue your link building it will get old SERP value soon.]

During Google PR updating time you should not alter your Title and on page factors, Google might flick your PR.

I've used both... I saw zero difference. I switched thousands from using '|' to using '-' with zero effect. However, aesthetically I think that the hyphens look better; but that is just my personal preference. I'd be interested to see if you see the same results.

What is important is the order of your keyword phrases... Most important first, 2nd most important 2nd, etc.

I agree with that. If you move your keyword position in your title, then the result will change.

In your example, your position dropped for both keywords. We would have expected the second keyword to climb since it is now in first position in your title.

There is also an important factor to consider. SE return hundreds of results for your keyword. Therefore, it is impossible to say if your change is better or worse at anytime. You need to test and it requires time. Many other people (let's say competitors) are trying to do the same thing as you do: improve their ranking). You are a number in the very large matrix. For example, someone may link to your website and that will improve your ranking. There is part of your SEO coming from your, but also from others even if you did not ask for. Many SEO gurus suggest to experiment, so it is not bad to try some variations and see it works better.
