Alternatives to build traffic besides SEO?

    Hello folks, this is my first post in this forum, I hope you can help me on this.

    What we all want in the end when doing SEO, is to build traffic to our sites. That's known.

    Now, could you tell me if there are some other options beside SEO to achieve this?

    As an example, I think of newsletters, product discounts, coupon codes, etc.

    I don't know much of them, so if you can add more to that list explaining why you think they're a good alternative to SEO to build traffic I'd thank you since now.

    It doesn't have to be completely out of SEO, I think there must be some semi-SEO, or SEO-like strategies out there that might work well.

    Thanks again for your answers.

    Email blast would be the effective campaign for you... However you need an expert to track the email marketing campaign and can show you the detailed traffic/conversion report.

    Doing social bookmarking and networking (i.e. digg, twitter, etc.) can boost traffic of your site.

    All these are good techtics which work in association but as per my opinion SEO even fails when you find the right need of your visitor.... It takes time but you get permanent visitors and escape from the bounce rate.

    You can add a chatroom in your website and choose SEO for some time , then users come to your website can stay there and choose the topics they interested in .That might help you increase the traffic for long time run .

    Online marketing is vast and there is so much you can do. One method which works for one may not work for other. You can try these proven strategies:

    * article marketing
    * press releases
    * forums, discussion groups etc (yahoo answers, SUN)
    * blog commenting
    * social networks (facebook etc)
    * online classifieds (craigslist etc)
    * social bookmarking (redit, stumble, etc)

    Hi Mannyjuarez, there are many ways to increase traffic besides SEO:
    Write articles and submit them to article directories
    Submit your url to search engines and directories
    Social bookmarking of your individual articles/posts.
    Social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, myspace.
    Forum Posting.
    Blog commenting on dofollow sites.
    Create squidoo lens.
    Submit your site to blogs and RSS directories.
    Good luck:)

    Video blogging on youtube and other video hosting sites does pretty good for me. At one time youtube sent my forum as much traffic as yahoo.

    And its not just youtube. Post your videos all over the place - yahoo video, break, daily motion, meta cafe, veoh,,,,,,
