Hi All Can someone jump in and put me right, i think this is how it goes. I am currently trying to get involved with my own SEO, am not expecting miracles right away, although one day most definate. My budget is dessimated, so i'm skint meaning my limitations are exhausted, i am my own resource. So i'm relying on purely FREE advice and information and tools. Here is what i am doing so far, using google adwords keyword tool, i type in a perticular keyword for my niche, i then look for one within the field, much lower clicks but even less advertising competion, i also look for others, i then combine the two and even add extras, to see if something is out there, that the advertisers don't know about. Is this right, obviously i'm open to all i can get. Cheers James Creation Thompson
Here is the problem with google's keyword tool. It will show you an aprox. amount of searches. The competition column represents that number of advertisers bidding on that key word or phrase meaning those are adwords competition. In order to find out organic search competition you will need to do a google search for that key word phrase and see the number of results. It is a good idea to put the key word phrase in quotes so you can find out how many web pages are indexed for that exact phrase. Then the idea is to target those key words and phrases that get a good number of searches and don't have very many pages indexed for that term in quotes. Low competition in my book is anything under a million pages indexed and normally i shoot for terms that have 200 or more searches per month and less than a million pages indexed and heavily market the terms that are at the 500,000 page mark. Let me know if that made any sense to you. I'll try to clear it all up if not.
Yes, a great deal of information. Thanks a lot, will begin my quest again now, on the right road. James
