with membership sites it is so easy to make passive, ongoing income.

what you have to do though is:
    find a niche (hungry crowd)
build the actual membership site with reliable payment system that allows subscription payments
set up strong marketing funnels via landing page
built content that will be accessible on weekly bases for few weeks in advance
    launch the site
    promote it

i currently have about 100 on average in my membership site where i charge them $49 per month and this website has been around for over 12 months

    Hi rockwellbiz,
Coming up with a membership website is a great idea; both for new starters as well as to the already established businesses. And if you are looking out for information on creating a membership site, goto membershipacademy.com, there are lots of useful stuffs available... this is where I learnt to create my own membership site. Check it out.

    Regards
    Mike. . .

the first link in his sig has nothing to do with membership other then fill in your email. Its not that do not belive you are getting $50/mo, which I highly doubt...you would have to be offering something very special to get people to fork over that much money, and the material would have to be very unique, not only would it cost a small fortune to get a good looking site going, then you would spend a lot of money and time finding stuff that is not already on the net, otherwise who would pay $50/mo for stuff thats probably already around...
sounds sorta shakey at best. the internet is composed of nothing but free stuff, and someone is going to pay
a membership site $50/mo ...come on now...

To be honest many internet marketers and even places such as NY Times have not been successful at all with the membership idea. I only know a handful of people who have been successful at it and they are offering various tools, one on one sessions, exclusive interviews, and more. Most of these people are also very well known internet marketers which is a huge selling point.

I love posts like this..they are so vague and give no tips at all just generalizations:

    Here is another one:
Build and Sell your Own Automobile:

    1) Find out what cars people like
    2) Build the car
    3) Set up Dealerships around the world to sell the car
    4) Put flashy things on the car like Blue Tooth
    5) Advertise the car
    6) Sit back and watch the money come in.

There...I have just showed you how to make money. What a cheese ball:rolleyes:

I have to agree with dscurlock. Looking at your site, I don't see anyone forking over $49 a month. It doesn't look professional at all, there is no information other than "So I have put together something for you, which can let you access the information that can get you the same results and Andrew and Daryl achieved. Please, put in your name and email below to find out more."..and Andrew and Daryl, who ever the hell they are.

You look like more of a noob than the people you are trying to con. Sorry man, really bad presentation, no sale here.

Nice thought, but how does one get to the finding the niche? I'm sure if they had one this is something they would of thought of :)

everyone loves recurring billing products, however setting up a membership site, and tracking payments etc... is very complicated. Definitely not for the noobs.

Membership sites are definitely one of the more profitable sources of revenue, however actually picking a niche topic and delivering is pretty hard, especially since most markets are so oversaturated.

What's interesting about this, is the fact that none of the websites mentioned i.e. Internet Traffic Mastery nor Andrew and Daryl have anything to show for traffic in Alexa. How do you charge $50 a head to teach someone how to drive traffic while having Little to No Traffic rank in Alexa for your own sites?

Membership sites are goldmine of online marketing industry but not everyone manage to hit this goldmine. It requires efforts and quality maintainance. Nobody is going to invest in your membership sites, if you are not providing that quality.

I have even seen some people giving information (which is freely available) to their members through their membership sites. SO that is really crappy.

People who are willing to pay for memberships don't have time or willing to go around and search for the similar free info, and such a products will always be a great sellers (with the right marketing and sales copy), even if they look unprofessional ... so what? Guy knows how to drive traffic to website but he sucks at design... kill him for it! It doesn't mean he can't sell what he really knows...

It's similar with adult biz and porn ... there are tons and tons of free porn available everywhere on the web, but people still buys memberships at porn websites... does that make sense to you?

Not everyone will search for free stuff like you...

Finally, a good thread with ACTUAL useful advice.

Can't say that too often on a board like this. :)~

It's all about volume. Sell a subscription for, say, $10 a month, have 100 subscribers, and that pays your rent and utilities.
