i am a proud customer of WEBTHOSTING.COM :D and today i have recieved this email from webthosting support. just see what they says about their hosting's bandwidth.do u guys think we will get these speeds anywhere else??does this mean we can use HIGH BANDWIDTH CONSUMING websites??

    Dear Users,

WebT Hosting, among the 30 hosting providers based in Netherlands, expands its Network & Support Department and appoints two new support representatives. Their responsibilities cover operational services, including monitoring the servers, providing customers with hosting services and support. You can be assured with the best support quality among all the Netherlands Hosting providers.

    Bandwidth upgrade:
WebT Hosting expanded its capacity to 2 Gbps by purchasing additional port capacity recently. We always purchase twice thw bandwidth that is actually used by our users to ensure your websites load fast even during the peak hours and there is no congestion.

    Kind Regards,
    WebT Hosting

    i love WEBTHOSTING.COM ;)

It will mean the speeds at which you can get things become faster, not the actual limits on your bandwidth.

It also seems very unlikely that this is per machine, they probably meant their actualy network capacity.

2gbits of bandwidth really isn't that much, most datacenters are pushing 10+ gbits of bandwidth. We're personally pushing 20+ gbits at EACH of our 2 datacenters and never hit over 40% capacity.

i think you read wrong about goaddy having a 100mbit network thats probably the port speed there servers are connected to

Seriously 2Gpbs isnt a high capcity for a datacenter

You can get servers at OVH which have 2x1gbps connections and 1gbps dedicated connections at FDC

There is not unlimited bandwith. If there was such thing then webthosting.com should have bought that, instead of getting only 2Gbits

As for Godaddy that means that servers are on 100mbps ports on the switch.

From what you are saying its obvious that they upgraded their ports from 100mbps to 1Gbps. This doesn't give you "Unlimited Bandwith". I just helps when users connected to that port are pushing large amounts of data. Now the users have room to push more (avoid peaks) and serve more clients. A 100mbps port could easily reach it's capacity if a lot of servers are sharing it. Also please note that by upgrading to 1Gbps port, the provider still has the same amount of bandwith allocated as before. Unless going for 1Gbps dedicated which costs thousands of dollars.

Best practices when it comes to network load is to try to stay under 60% max load at peak so that means they are doing better at 50% with a little room for growth.

The question is. how much bandwidth can a single machine push :D Try putting a relatively active file hosting there and listen to them screaming or even worse shutting your account down.

There is no such thing called unlimited bandwidth. everything has a limit.

ya i agreed with Tech Entrance ,

There is no such thing called unlimited bandwidth. everything has a limit.,

see if you have 100mbps , there is limit of time span , how much you can trasnfer in 1 hour , one day , one month

    First rule in web hosting,
There is no such thing called UNLIMITED anything :) (Take that seriously or be prepared to get the "We are sorry for the inconvenience" letter :D)

Congrats on your upgrade, things will get done much faster now! Work harder!
    Cheers :D
