Few facts about adbrite and full page ads you may not know.

Some of you may recognise my posts about the best and worst alternatives to adsense, and theres alot of opinions on the subject. two things stuck in my mind.
1 alot of people think AdBrite is the worst and
2 the full page ads put users off the site. So i decided to do an experiment on 2 blogs with almost the same niches (a legal principles advice blog and a blog on case law) both have around the same traffic per week (6000) same CTR, visit length's and on average same sort of payout. Anyway i put adsense adverts on the case law blog and adbrite on the other. So far it has been going two days and this is the results i have been getting........

Total views Adbrite 3764 Adsense 3911

On average the CTR for the adbrite is 2.67%, Adsense 4.89% in the three months before this, neither has ever dropped below 3.3%.

The total percentage of visitors staying for less than 30 seconds: for Adbrite blog 14.4%; for adsense blog 4.1%, however visits under 5 secs Adbrite 2.3% adsense 2.6%.

Total earnings for the two days: Adbrite was around a quarter of my adsense earnings. Sorry i'm not telling you how much

    Therefore in my opinion
1 Adbrite is less well targeted (you only need to view the ads to see that)
2 Adbrite full page ads puts off people visiting your site, since they take 5+ secs to load.
3 Adbrite seems to pay less.
4 lower CTR because of points 1 + 2 and a contributory factor in point 3

So there you have it i'm going to let it run the week and i'll let you know how they get on. Then might have a go at comparing others.

Yeah, AdBrite currently is in economy crisis. At the beginning of last year AdBrite was having very high rates, but now it's just ridiculous how they dropped their rates.

I used to get around $4 for full page ads per 1,000 impressions and now you don't even get $1 for full page ads of 1,000 impressions.

    Hope AdBrite will recover soon.

It is a shame because it wasn't such a bad alternative, to be honest i'd only kept it a back water blog i should've deleted ages ago. It was only when all the best v worst came up that i thought i'd do a proper comparison. See $4 for the inconvienince to the reader just about justifies itself but less than a dollar is madness.

Yeah, you're right. I have removed their ads from my website for now until their rates will be better, because just like you said it's madness getting not even a $1 for having full page ads on your site.

I'm happy to stick with them because they've always paid me reasonably.
I always say AdBrite is something you use alongside AdSense (unless you're banned) - not instead of.

Not really - I don't use any tricks.
I just keep writing, keep link building, attract more traffic and the clicks follow naturally.

Improving the ad placement will surely help you out a bit. But there is no major tricks, because tricks may get your account suspended.

Just a little update looking at the full page ad statistics and yesterday out of my days total earnings full pages only account for about 8% and the highest served full page ad was only $2.30 which only got one impressing. Most of the full page ads were at $0.60.

Also tricks who mentioned tricks? No please no tricks, thats another reason why advertisers aren't willing to pay more. Tricks question the whole legitamacy of this industry. You want quality traffic, loads of clicks and all that, work for it like the rest of us! Sorry to be blunt but NO TRICKS!!!!!

So I did some testings today with full page ads on my site and earnings are even lower than they were last week. Seems like AdBrite is going way downhill witch their rates, AdBrite go uphill ;)

    Whoa!!!!! Whats up with Adbrite.
Just thought I will try adbrite and I don't know whats with their CPM.

I did a skyscraper on one of my sites.
    Decent site. No Warez-movie-arcade-forum type.

I served 27000 impressions yesterday and earndddd a whopping 1 dollar.

No I won't be doing full page ads... but is the cpm ridiculously low the first day types ?
Does it get better as they send more ads..

My adsense skyscraper get less than 1% CTR so I thought I will replace it with adbrite to test.

I am not willing to deface my site for an extra dollar.. Worse than Kontera cpm man...

What is the ecpm on the whole ad zones u guys are doing?

I would think Finance should do well..
I can see some Finance related ads..

As someone noted, Adbrite company had to fire some staff, they are losing money because of the lack of advertisers available.

But, just like everyone else in the world pretty much, the current economic status is hurting us all. Hope we start to see a difference as we head into summer->fall.

My eCPM for adbrite on one of my sites is barely .12 cents. =/ Sigh. Adbrite sucks.

Generally no it doesn't get any better, at least not at the moment. Honestly my total eCPM is holding at around $2.15 but i was looking back in an old spreadsheet i did for the month Oct o8 and my eCPM was between $5:37 - $6.20. However i would never use Adbrite to get a better CTR. AdBrite is not and in my opinion has never been good at targetting their ads. As an example my legal blog is currently being served holiday advertisments!

I must admit your adsense skyscraper is getting a very low CTR, i presume you have targetted your ad, erm channels meta's etc? My Adsense is always pretty good and, apart from the odd low paid irrelevant advert, it generally is pretty well targetted to my niche's.
