Adsense Keywords

I have a portal site and because it tackes different topic I put diffirent keyword on its meta tag and the result is it displays different keyword ads on the main page and as well on the content pages. my problem is I want a specific page to display a relevant adsense ads for a specific keyword. How can I do this? Does adsense adapt to content or just keywords tag?

To make it clear take here is a sample of the pages

First Page: any keyword content adsense
Page about real estate: Real Estate Adsense related
Page for Automobile: Automobile Adsense related

They are all based on the content of that specific page, so youd have that automatically Based on the words/links used on the page.

As you can see each catagory and article carries the content related ads.

... and I just realized I totally misunderstood your question.. LOL.

 

Adsense doesn't JUST pay attention to page content-- it looks at the site on the whole.

For example, if you have a site about web design and then create a page about viagra (because you think Viagra will get you some high-dollar clicks), the ads on that page might well relate to WEB DESIGN-- even if you religiously remove all occurances of the word.

why is the homepage ok but the inner pages not authorized?

 

You might want to try using your keywords in your title and the heading of each paragraph, this seams to make a big difference. You can also try modifying your site navigation and anchor text because google relies a lot on the content of the pages pointing to a specific page for it's contextual analysis . If all else fails redevelop the page under a different file name, one preferably containing your keyword.

 

Can I improve the adwords in my template? Can I specify the adwords myself? Thanks.

 

The short answer is no and google even has rules against keyword manipulation in their TOS but you can always subtely influence them

Try to explore the possibilities of section targeting

 

By carefully chosing the words you use and don't use (stop words) and how and where you place them on the page (titles , anchor text, alt text for images, Bold). Restored.com is an example of what I am talking about

 

there is one way of doing it. the way i have discovered.

i had similar problem of google not showing ads according to content but according to url of page. I had put a squeeze page for an "adsense" "ebook" "adsense revenue exposed" on my website http://www.surfnearnzone.com. But rather than showing ads for adsense it showed adsense ads for making money online.

Then one day i found it accidently. if you form your URL like this http://www.surfnearnzone.com/ebook/adsense_revenue_exposed rather than http://www.surfnearnzone.com voila !! you have your adsense working the way you wanted it to. It started showing ads for adsense.

I think you should also try something similar.

I've also had good results with this method, i.e. including the keywords in my URLs, but I've always used hyphens (example: http://www.surfnearnzone.com/ebook/adsense-revenue-exposed). My understanding was that underscores cannot be used by the SE spiders to separate words. Have you had good results actually using underscores, or were you just using them in your example?

old thread, but just wanted to give my input on this since this is actually possible:

Use Section Targeting For AdSense.

this way you are able to tell AdSense to look at certain content and ignore other.

 

Good tip - I've used Section Targeting on many of my sites, and it's definitely helped in the targeting of the ads. As a general strategy, I usually include any areas of my content where there's a predominance or keywords and/or related words, and usually exclude any non-targeted text, as well as any part of the code that the AdSensebot can't read (e.g. Javascript).

Well sam the only thing i can say is this method did find use with me. i started just with a domain name and binded it with a free hosting provider which showed banner ads on top. To my surprise the description of my website was changed to "hosting Provider" blah blah blah and not adsense revenue exposed. obviously the spiders must have been updating the content.

Secondly, using this technique, After i got my own hosting, my site is more visited by spiders than visitors. its both good and bad (i think i should be having more of real visitors ). i have also got ranked in the top 20 out of 689,000 search results in yahoo search for a particular keyword.

This makes me think this strategy is working. Hyphen or underscore, you must let the spider know what your page is about.

Another thing which i have not tried till now is use of meta keywords. i think either u have a proper url or proper keywords which helps in proper display of ads.

I have removed adense ads following a relevation at this forum that showing ads on registration page might be illigal

Thanks for getting back on this, and your explanation. Ironically, I saw some information recently that didn't even mention keywords in the domain name as a relevant aspect of SEO - all of the emphasis was on keywords in the Title Tag. Regardless, it's nice to know that the underscore option is there if I want to use it.
