THis just released. Congress in the U.S. is planning on banning Casino sites by not allowing credit card debits for U.S. customers that Gamble online. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060710/ap_on_go_co/internet_gambling 1/2 of the revenue for online Casinos comes from the U.S. Where will affiliates go now???? Will the U.S. change their national anthem by taking out the "Home of the Free"????
banning the use of credit cards might slow things down a bit. But there is too much demand for this industry. Alternat payment methods will pick up the slack. I wouldnt worry too much about it if you are in this field.
People will organise things like paying a deposit into something like a PayPal account, then casinos will integrate into that API in order to circumvent this. Then the US will counter by imposing harsh penalties on companies that do so. Endless circle, yeah?
The law is still not effective, we will discuss it after. There is nothing we can do against silly politicians. They want US gambling money to stay in the US.
People are going to find a way to gamble online. Politicians should realize this, wise up, and legalize it. With regulation we could have companies within the U.S. reaping the $billions of profits, instead of offshore companies. It would create tons of tax revenue.
look up california vs yahoo, google, microsoft its a landmark case and basically says anyone that makes money off of the internet from casinos is in trouble. Again.. this case is really nothing
What do you mean Shoemoney???? "anyone that makes money off of the internet from casinos is in trouble."
as stated above..this hasnt gone into effect yet..and I think the casinos will turn around and start offering bonuses for other methods such as neteller and firepay. Most US player's already use these merchant site's anyways so I don't really see any kind of decrease in conversions
It's important to note that this is not a LAW. It was a House bill that passed and it was expected to do so. This is not the first time. There will now be a Senate bill introduced and it must go through the same process. If anything is changed by the Senate or a Rider attached, the bill goes back to the House. All of this must be completed before the session ends this year (election year will shorten work time). Furthermore, studies have shown that U.S. citizens account for up to 60% of online gambling revenue. It's debatable, but many sources have revenue from the USA as a major force. In closing, the proposed law changes are not simply to ban credit cards. People can be thrown in prison for gambling online (USA). The state of Washington has already enacted their new law. Anyone in the state that gambles online can be arrested and charged with a Class C felony, which would land them in prison for up to 10 years. As you can see, this goes beyond simply using a new depositing source.
