Totally agree with you here! Not about the google throw away the PR feature on toolbars. As long as those people stay focused on that, we can take over the SERPS just you and me! And CMorley I say don't think about Pagerank, and really not about Alexa rank( as you can just install the toolbar yourself, visit it alot of times and done ). Just think about traffic and SERPS! I would rather have a site with PR0 and with a really big traffic flow then a high PR with no traffic at all! Both can make a reason amount of cash, but the traffic is harder to get then PR!
After searching and reading ... I didn't find an absoulte answer for this. Does my site PR (currently 0) influence my SERPS or not. Can I get high SERPS ranking for my keywords without high PR ? I appreciate any insights on how to increase my SERPS ranking, cause I struggling for couple of months without any sucess ....
For toolbar PR you must be patient. At least until next update. But PR is not most important for SERPS. Very important are also anchor text of backlinks. Depends of the keywords. http://www.jimwestergren.com/link-building-guide/
Again, your real PR has an influence (but no one knows the value of a real PR), your toolbar PR is nothing to worry about. Bottom line: forget about PR It really depends on your keywords and how competitive they are. I've seen sites with a low PR ranking very well. So I say PR and rankings are not really related (in my experience). One thing for sure: Don't expect your rankings to skyrocket if all of a sudden you get a high (toolbar) PR. Admittedly, I've heard claims that a site can't rank well for super-competitive keywords without at least having a PR of 5, but I've seen no real proof of that. I say link building is key. Ever since the Hilltop algo came into play, the anchors of your links have become of crucial importance. Nowadays, it's also varied anchor texts that are important. Adamovic posted a link to a good guide to link building above, be sure to use its principles. For the record, I use LinkAssistant. It's not a cure-all, but it does a very good job managing link exchanges. If you'll get into link building, you might give it a try: www.link-assistant.com. But, link exchange is not (and should not) be the only way to go. Use directories and article submissions to get one-way links as well. Get registered in DMOZ. Find good hub sites (again, such as DMOZ) and get them to link to you. Getting links from related hub sites establishes your own site as an "authority" in Google's eyes. There's a free hub finder at Aaron Wall's blog: http://tools.seobook.com/hub-finder/. SEO is a toil, and it requires patience. So a couple of months is not much. Warkot
Yes, you can easily spam Alexa and manipulate their traffic counter. It's even easier than faking a PR with Googlebot... Warkot
I have an interesting little PR experiment of sorts going on. I have one site in a rather competitive niche that I launched about 3 weeks before the most recent PR "export" on 7/13. At the time, I had about 12 back links, including a pair of PR 6s, another pair of PR 5s, and a PR 4, all either directory links or links from relevant sites (no forum links). After the PR export, I still Had a PR of 0 for the site. But I'm building links at a steady, "natural" rate, so we'll see where it's at after the next PR export. On the other hand, I launched another site in a less competitive niche about two weeks after the first one. I am building links at the same pace. It will be interesting to see how the PR for this site advances compared to the PR for the first site - it is a bit of an experiment in how niche popularity might influence PR (if at all). I'll try and post updates as time goes by. I know we aren't supposed to obsess over PR, but I can't help but watch it, if only out of amusement. SEO can be addictive!
1) PR1: Get a few quality links and you will be PR1, but you will have to wait until the next Google Update which is 3-4 months from now. 2) Some sort of Alexa rank: It appears almost as quickly as you get some good traffic. 3) Search engines to pick up: Not more than 7 days considering you have put the link somewhere on the internet where the search engines visit. The latest page rank update wa on July 13th and to answer your question about how long it takes to get page rank, well one update for me and forget about the sandbox. I can prove to you it is only theory. I had 5 sites go pr6 on the last update (4 were pr0, 1 was pr2), the update before in april I had 6 sites go pr6 (3 were pr0) How did I do this? Links from good page ranked sites, sites of my own...
1) I received PR3 for a brand new site in exactly 3 months. 2) Alexa rank slowly crept from a million plus to around 250K over that period. 3) All 3 search engines; Google, Yahoo! and MSN indexed me within a month. Submit to all search engines and keep adding quality content to your site.
aolaybar, please consider at least to change the color scheme. This color scheme on your site makes text quite unreadable. Also, your content might need imrpovement. I cannot see much usefull information.
