It seems obvious to me that the coop has been targetted by google. The coop has always provided "unnatural" link popularity to the participating websites and google is just taking steps to eliminate the coops effectiveness.

Just as a heads up... the weighting algorithm has been changed in a couple ways (rel="nofollow") can be used and also sites that actually get end user traffic are rewarded. Impressions you give to the ad network are counted in the weighting algorithm (see this thread).

You base everything off Google -- Google is messed up, has been for awhile, and will be for awhile.

Well until something better comes along... IMO Google is the least bad currently.

Based on what? Shawn, come on... Google isnt relevant, they do wierd things, indexed pages jump up and down dramatically, Hell, they have even dropped the coop page from the index. (and the PR)

I'm open to suggestions about what you think is more relevant... So far I've looked at Yahoo, MSN, Ask.com (and a few others), and they aren't.

I've discussed this many times. Google isnt relevant anymore. Look at all the posts about it. The billion page spammer, etc.

Beyond that. What is also a problem is that Google cannot get things right as far as indexed pages. Indexed, not indexed, supplemental, whatever else they come up with. I have one site, had 10k pages indexed 4 months ago. Its completely deindexed today. Why? I havent changed anything. (its not a forum). It has many natural links, deep links and link exchanges.

Ive said it before. A link on that same site, to a coop member, gains him value in Yahoo and MSN also. But guess what. Im displaying the ads for free (or was until I removed the coop) So people were receiving Yahoo SEO benefit and I was getting -0-.

As far as relevancy, I did a little study. Its not comprehensive, but its a start. Take a look.

Google is Broken - And I think I know how...

I'm not disputing Google has it's problems... That's why I said it's the "least bad" currently. Everything else (at least what I've looked at) is worse (you can of course find specific examples that makes any individual search engine look like the worst, but I'm talking about as a whole).

And that can't (entirely) happen anymore because you get weight credit for impressions. One of the reasons it was rolled out.

Ive said it before - why not average Google and Yahoo?

What do you think Google does when my weight drops from 100k to 10k to 130k all in 2 month period of time? My links jump all over the place, and they sence scam because thats not natural....

You soon will be able to specify rel="nofollow" on your existing ads and force your ads to use it on all sites.

As as I asked in the other thread - What good will the coop do if its full of nofollow tags? You think I or anyone gets any real traffic from links stuffed into the footer of some website?
