How does Google treats dofollow forum backlinks?

    I'm thinking of giving pages on our site extra entrances via forums for two different reasons:

    - extra traffic;
    - extra SE-love;

    How do you guys think of forum links? Would you spend time on collecting them?

    Cheers!

    Personally, I think of forum signature links about like I do free directories and blog comments... Pretty much a waste of time from Google's perspective. The ones that are dofollowed are frequently devalued by Google BECAUSE they are dofollowed and unmoderated. They might still help you rank at Yahoo! and some of the other engines that really care very little or nothing about the quality of their SERPs.

    You make pick up some traffic though.

    Well, I was not thinking of forum sig links but hard links on surfer forums like articles links and links to interesting pages... When they are related to the topic of the thread I personally see no problem, but I was wondering about other peoples opinion :)

    Do you think posting links on surfer forums to blogposts / articles / other linkbaits will increase the amount of google spiders on the site?
