Yours sincerely (Representative Name) I'm shocked because I'm not the one who's broadcasting it, in fact I just saw that live feed in ustream(www.ustream.tv) and I decided embed it in my website. Do I need to take this seriously? What can they do to my website? Why cant they just email or call ustream to stop broadcasting/hosting that particular live feed since they are the one who's hosting it? And also it's not clear to me what they want me to do.. Can someone answer and explain to me this. Thanks in advance!
Do I need to take this seriously? Yes. What can they do to my website? Have your host remove the pages or entire site. If you're running adsense, have your account terminated with no pay. Have your site removed from indexing on all major search engines. Why cant they just email or call ustream to stop broadcasting/hosting that particular live feed since they are the one who's hosting it? They might have already done it, but ultimately you are responsible for the content that displays on your site. Embedding copyrighted material is contributory infringement. And also it's not clear to me what they want me to do.. Can someone answer and explain to me this. It's pretty clear - remove the embedded material that is infringing "disable access to the unauthorized videos being displayed and/or disseminated on the web pages listed below and remove its contents from view." Unless you want to potentially spend thousands of dollars in legal fees and risk paying civil damages, remove the feed.
Well, as this is sports you are embeding. On the bottom of the page you could write: We only link users to channels found freely on the internet. Please contact the host of the channel regarding any infringement/problem. Also you may want to add : WE DO NOT HOST ANY OF THE CONTENT FOUND ON THIS SITE. NR = Typical.
Ultralite what do you mean NR = typical? I'm not from the US and I think my country don't have any law with regards to this kind of situation especially it is in cyberspace. Can they still sue me? I'm just curious.
Why are you listening to the person giving you shit advice? Remove the content and move on to something else. It is really not that difficult to understand.
