My site www.cheapdanny.com went from PR 3 to PR 0 after switching blogspot url to www.cheapdanny.com. Would it still retain the same PR 3 after the next google dance when it realizes that it's still the same site? Thanks! ***sorry that it's a duplicate post - was getting an error the first time and didnt' realize it was already posted in the forum.***
if you were at cheapdanny.blogspot.com and then when to cheapdanny.com you will lose your PR ranking even if the content is the same since its no longer the same URL and therefore not the same URL links.
I agree with fanaticalcontent, if you changed your url from a blogspot url to your personal domain you will end up loosing your pr. I don't know if blogspot offers 301 redirects. It it does you should do a 301 redirect as Google will know then that your blog has permanently moved and Google will give its due credit to your new website.
Don't believe Blogspot allows you to access the htaccess file for 301. I would do the research to find out if it can be accomplished if I were you.
No, once teh domain changes, so does the pagerank on the domain, Just work on pointing old links to your new website to re-generate your pagerank.
yes you will not loose rankings of your old blogspot but you will have to start agn with the new custom domain.
you want to again work for your new url. because google don't know that you have changed, only blogspot knows
folks r right that the pr will b lost once the domain is changed but in this case pr loss doesn't need to b just bcoz of switching blogspot url to current url...may b, u hav literally lost ur backlinks or they hav been nofollowed...check that 1st...or may b just a Google dance which is very common these few days(check other threads related to sudden drop in pr...plenty of them r there)
Simply add a link to your new url from your old url, then the pr will hopefully pass on to your new url
Thanks everyone. I have started the process of getting all the backlinks to switch from *.blogspot.com to www.cheapdanny.com. It's going to be a long road ahead.
Your site drop its ranking the moment that you switch your domain. the back links are all pointing to your old domain.
Thats the problem of starting things with blogspot. its always recommended to use your own domain from the starting. you gotta start everything from scratch with the new domain.
Loosing PR recently not a big issue.. may be due to diff data centers.... its common.. But if loose after next update its a problem....
