Sudden Increased impressions and drop in ctr .. what to do?

My CTR Dropped to about 1/3 of usual
and impressions is doubled or increased by 3 folds
I have increased visitors to my forum but not as much !!
I am worried that some one may want to harm my account

what can I do

 

Funny, i am facing the same problem. Like you said, sudden increase in impressions, but drop in CTR. I checked my sitemeter, but it seems my unique visitors are about the same. Anyone else facing the same problem?

 

Same here, who knows maybe this has something to do with the new interest based ads thing, or something, but ctr is really dropping. One third of usual...

Wow, I thought this was just me going through the issue. I came here to see if anything was up, but didn't notice any other threads so figured it was me. Starting around noon (Pacific time) yesterday, and even going on until now, impressions have been waaaay up...yet no additional visits or impressions above the normal levels have been noted in Analytics.

Actually, I already reported to it to google under "Suspicious Account Activity" or whatever that category was. I ended up sending three messages because I kept looking up more information in my server logs, trying to find out what was happening.

Anyway, thanks for writing this thread, now that I think about it I should have written something myself after not seeing any thread about it.

 

Me too.. I have noticed it earlier.. My page impressions doubled and make a big drop on CTR..

 

Same problem. Overall impressions increased but my channel data is still reporting the same amount of impressions as normal. I cannot see where the extra impressions are coming from.......

 

My traffic has doubled across 8 sites with adsense on and ctr is half my normal rate. After checking analytics it's definately a snag at google's end.

It shallnt be problem since your impression is increase and your CTR is drop
If your CTR increase suddenly, then it might be some problem

I've seen a sudden boost in impressions too! Good thing I'm not alone in this one.

 

Before you actually started this thread, I thought the situation is actually happening to myself alone and I never thought of bringing this issue up. Just like what you guys are seeing, overall site impression actually doubled but when I look at my individual channels to track which ad unit is being clicked, the number of impressions still remains the same just like normal days. Some conflicting figure here which baffles me.

 

This may not be due to interest based ads as I only saw this increase in impressions today but I'm coming across those 'highly in-targeted interest based ads' for quite sometime now. All that I can think of is the recent search engine changes (Longer snippets) that Google has made. Has that anything to do with this?

 

Sorry for the double post, but I think this will be the way we'll see our adsense reports from now !!

When you have high impressions and low ctr it may be someone put your site on an auto-surf or just refreshing your pages

this has no relation to interest based ads, i think
because it will launch only on 9 april

 

It must be a NEW BUG in the adsense tracking or something. A huge number of people are reporting this issue. Gotta check down over at the adsense forum of Google. Check out your Analytics tracking and I am quite sure it will show that the number of impressions shown by adsense is errorenous.

 

Just checked out at WebmasterWorld's Adsense forum and everyone there have the same issue!!

So do not worry I am sure that the Googlers are trying the best to solve it all out!
