Hi, I've been trying to do forum link building with no success. I've done the simple thing - Put a small link to my site in the signature and just post as normal, not mentioning it. I used a list of DoFollow forums and was working on posting on forums on the list related to my website. However, I think I've tried 4 forums; 3 of which have just deleted my link from my signature and 1 actually permanently banned me for it... So how can I actually get links from forums in my niche without it getting deleted? Thanks
Firstly, pick forums that are relevant to your keyword. Don't go posting "corvette parts" in a dancing forum. (yes i'm aware i have a fatloss link in a webmaster forum) Secondly, are the posts you are making helpful, or are they just "gj thanks"? Lastly, if you've only tried 4 forums, try another 4. Perhaps the ones you picked are strictly modded.
Wondering this happen if you are posting accordingly. As you can see DP is allow this. I suggest to try more and see the result. By the way, you can also try on dofollow blog commenting
First of all you should read each forum rules to see if sigs are allowed. Always post related and good content to the forum, Otherwise you'll be banned as happened to you. Keep searching and work hard, 4 forums is just the begining.
I think you didn't respect the forums rules, and tried to spam them with useless posts like "thank you" "keep it up" .. etc. I use over 20 forums right now, almost all do-follow, and not a single one banned me for using a signature that respect their signature rules. Also, keep in mind that you need to post on topics with true , useful posts, otherwise is like blog spamming, ... amean.. yes.. blog commenting
When you comment - put some thought into it. Make it a couple sentences long. Remember to respect the owner's site - he is allowing you to leave a message. If you put a sentence or two - your basically spamming your link.
I think in this case you should do some things: 1) Links should be used only for ethical purposes to point web users to useful and relevant information and not to deceive the search engines. 2) Links can be bought, sold, traded or received/given away for free. Being creative and thinking outside the box will most likely get you very many of them no matter which of the hundreds of strategies you choose, just do it or your competitors will do it before you. 3) Don't only think about link building only for the purposes of search engine algorithms or metrics such as PageRank. Same rule applies: Think what is best for your users first, the search engines will adapt. 4) Stay up to date, search engines change, users change, businesses can change for the better or worse if not up to date. Like my friend Brett Tabke says, “read, read, read until your eyes hurtâ€. 5) My Golden Rule for Link Building: FOCUS ON PERMANENT LINKS. Hope that can help you.
I couldn't have said it better. I think your Golden Rule is the most importnant one though. Permanent links and sitewide links are the name of the game...
Well, seeing that the OP is banned, I'd have to say he was most likely spamming the forums or posting entirely irrelevant information. Robertstr, that's a pretty solid list. Link building is definitely something that must continually be worked at, and its best to make sure that information is relevant too so as to secure return visitors.
Google does not care about relevant topics. A link is still a link - regardless of "where" it was posted at. ============== jakeruston - how are you checking your backlinks? Are you using the link: command or going through google webmaster tools? What about yahoo site explorer, are you checking that? From the time you post a link, depending on how often google crawls that site it could be weeks before the link shows up in your google webmaster tools. I had one forum show up on 2 weeks. Then I had another forum take 6+ weeks before it showed up. A lot of it has to do with the forum, does it submit a site map, how often does google crawl the site...... The thing is not to give up. Keep building those links.
First & foremost, don't get banned. OOPS... too late (LOL) Here are a few link that may or may not help. Forum Link Building tips (it's not just your signiture!) I think as long as you honestly contribute to other forums without spamming them, you'll probably be okay with having sig links. It's when people register, and then spam forums, they complain about getting banned. Just take your time and do it right and you'll be fine
i think its legitimate as long as you really contribute to a forum.. what else is that if you're promoting a website for a certain search term, you should at least have some info regarding the search term and you should be able to discuss it and learn more from posts in relevant forums...
do posting in different posting.. only choose forums where you think that you can contribute a something.. if you post a good content people will read it and will click on your link too.. so its better to choose forum where you can post good comments , content ..
