I have seen some massive improvements with putting keywords in the title when you making you way up from oblivion to the front page but I have found that once in the top 5 that Title is making no difference. I have been experimenting with a number of page by changing the title by either loading them with keywords, shortening them or try different keywords and I have found no change to the results. The pages didn't move up or down. In the weirdest example I total removed all keyword related to the page and found no change to the search results. I wonder if others have been experiencing this?
The <title> element is THE most important on-page signal that Google considers in their ranking algorithm. I typically try to have pages focused on one targeted keyword phrase... but I will include 2 or 3 keyword phrases if they are closely related and slight variations of one another. I always put the most important phrase at the begining of the <title>, then the 2nd and 3rd most important phrase, if applicable. Typically the deeper you drill into the site, the fewer the phrases that appear in my <titles> because the focus of the pages get more and more specific, moving from head terms to long tail to longer tail terms. So my <title> elements get more and more specific. The <h1> element is the 2nd most important on-page factor that influences Google's ranking algorithm. It's a good strategy to include in the <h1> the most important keyword phrase (or a slight variation) from your <title> element. Use an <h1> on every page... Don't waste this opportunity to reinforce your targeted keyword phrase from the <title>. The <h2> element is the 3rd most important on-page factor. I typically have my pages broken up into little sections or components. I give each of these an <h2> element. Since there are typically 4,5,6 or more of these per page, I use them to reinforce not only the most important keyword phrase in the <title> but also the 2nd and 3rd keyword phrase from the <title>. I try to use all of the <title> keyword phrases as well as variations (different conjugations of verbs from title, singular vs. plural, etc.) I try to work the most important keyword phrase from the <title> into my page name, so that my URL is keyword rich. But do it in such a way that the URL does not look spammy. Picking good <title>, <h1>, <h2>,... elements can go a LONG way towards making a page rank. Unfortunately, on-page SEO alone will usually not lead to great rankings even for less competitive terms... You need inbound links, preferably from relevant pages, but definitely with the major keyword phrase(s) or variations of the keyword phrase(s) as the link text to take you the rest of the way to the finish line.
Very important! Title tag is considered the most important of all the tags. It has highest on page optimization value.
When you say "title" do you mean the name of your website? Or do you mean keywords placed in the title tag of your html? Or both?
How long have you kept titles out of the page, try doing it for a longer time and check it out, i feel it will affect your rankings Google bot once it has decided to rank a site well, it gives some discounts as far as mistakes made by webmasters are concerned, but then after all they are not as intelligent as human beings, so over a period of time they will start acting upon those mistakes
I think title is the most important part of SEO and a relevant title tag becomes very important factor when a visitor judges it and thinks how much your website is useful.
This is the most important. It tell spiders about your targeted keywords and about your website theme. Its is the most important seo factor for onpage seo.
Title and the description tags are very important. "I have been experimenting with a number of page by changing the title by either loading them with keywords, shortening them or try different keywords and I have found no change to the results. The pages didn't move up or down" I think after changing a page title, it will take quite some time to see any change in its position in SERP.
Hi, Title is the most important part for site as seo concern. Google gives very much importance to Title so when creating title try to make title with your most important keywords.
The title and description tags are extremely important to seo. Make sure you include your most important keywords, but don't over do it because it will then just look "spammy" and could put your prospects and google off
TITLE tag is very important in SEO. It represents the title of the pages in your site. If you change your title simultaneously your PR will drop and SERP will also get down.
We are all in agreeance about the value of the title (and I have the right one) but are confused about how the massive changes in the title have caused no change in my search results. I have since made some more changes to see if anything changes and I'll report back.
Are you sure you gave Google time to recrawl and reindex your page were you changed the title? Lots of smaller sites are only indexed once every several weeks, sometimes monthly or longer.
Sure do - I check to see when the titles change in google. And I am suspecting not much change with meta descriptions as well!
