Lets say that everybody has a very good Search Engine Optimized website. What happens with placement then? How will the results on google differ when all websites meet googles requirements for SEO and all have pretty much the same keywords and meta tags as well as page description, title, backlinks... Anybody know? Will there ever be a point when SEO will not matter anymore because it will be the norm?
It's never going to happen because some people that think they are good at SEO really aren't. Then they brag about how well they are doing and are on the first page for keywords that nobody searches. There is always a lot of people that will say that their site is optimized well, but they really aren't. They think they are getting good links when majority are nofollow. Some people are smarter than others. Most webmasters don't even know that they have to optimize their site to get on the first page anyway. They think it's going to come naturally.
Exactly identical would be very unlikely considering they're going to have different URLs and if they have their links from the same places, one has to be on top of the other in link order. But if it were the case I suppose Google would alternate which site is on top in SERPs until one stood out somehow. Maybe alternate daily, weekly, or by # of searches.
I believe Google has a major challenge specially due to the sites with almost no meaning. I meant here for sites that are built for No purpose but just to exchange links or earn adsense revenue. Such site creators are good SEO people, so they have good content feed for crawler and all the standards are followed by them. But still the site serves no purpose to the visitor. For many of the keywords, i come across the sites having good content but that doesn't server the purpose for which the search was conducted. Intrestingly they have good domain names also so people get attracted to them, goes there and find nothing. I hope there will be some mechanism which will be driven by google to nail down these sites and keep the sole objective of meaningful search results intact.
The only way that would happen if one person only would make up all the website himsellf or herself . which then may not be.This will never happen even in a perfect world.
It's not all about SEO - it's also about content, quality and brand name. Whoever has all of these to the higher level will always get the higher rank.
It is impossible for websites to be identical in all seo factors. They are bound to have links from different websites and have different content on their website. As more companies discover seo, the seo industry will become more and more competitive. Eventually many industries will end up being at the same level as a competitive seo niche like gambling, pharmacy, finance, etc. For a sign of how other industries will end up, take a look at how the top ranked websites differ for some of those niches. Those sites will have many things in common, but they will also have many differences.
You're right but don't forget, a site which has made it to be on the top of Google will be surely on the top or second or so on some other search engines. The site will still get loads of traffic, it won't die except if it's left to die.
Remember SEO is not a 1 day game it's the praise of life, I mean it's the process which will never be ended. affiliate programs | interview | adsense websites | pc satellite tv
Probably a Process of constant change in search engines algorithm wont let it happen ever. Its will be just a never ending competition, sometime you will on top, and somtime your competitor will be...
Google has to ensure that the positions don't go stail as then SEO would be finished. Google keep updating their algo, and also people will always be trying to get higher and higher so the competition will always get harder and harder. SEO will not die.
