I'm so sorry to open a new thread but this is a different problem. I just uploaded an image next to my AdSense ad, which is a picture of David Beckham. To my surprise, one of the rotating ads is happens to be about Beckham too! I'm so scared I will violate their TOS by indirectly misleading users to click on the ads. Is this allowed? Thanks so much!
I dont think there is much to worry about. Many users are placing images by the ads with no issues. The best bet would be to contact the Adsense team and ask them.
Thanks guys, I can breathe easy now. The panic was adding up to the earlier one, I accidentally clicked "advertise on this site" this morning. But my account didn't show any clicks unpaid. I hope all is ok and will be extra careful next time. Btw here is my website / weblog / i don't know what to call it: www.squarehippies.com Cheers!
You're OK to click 'Advertise on this site' even on your own site, if you really want to. Though it would be a bit unusual to pay for Google ads on your own site... The 'advertise on this site' is for other advertisers who want to specify that their ads apear on your site - you make nothing from them clicking on it, unless they go ahead with placing ads on the site (with site-targetted ads from AdWords).
Yes, I have placed ads on my site near related images with no problem. Adwords tends to be reasonable enough with that sort of thing.
I think you are fine. The border on the beckham photo is good and that ensures you aren't violating TOS. Skinny
Google has actually said that they dont mind pictures next to ads as long as it fits the theme of the ads being shown. - you're actually much better off having that pic and those ads show than any other combination.
The main issue with pictures being close to ads are when the picture is something like an arrow or someone with their hand pointing toward the ad. As long as you're not using a pic that "begs" the user to click, and it has some form of border (around the pic or around the ad unit), you should be ok (Google is actually starting to incorporate ad units with built-in pictures).
Google Video had a link on their blog to a site that was doing that which surprised me. I must see if its still there. squarehippies that ad looks really well and no I am not saying that causing its showing Beckham As the others suggested I would ask Google for the say.
Thanks so much! You're all so helpful. Beckham ads seems to be everywhere on my site even though there are other celebs photos too. Wonder when will the World Cup fever going to end. While I make some side income with AdSense, I dont want them to be bombarded with ads and made the pages look like some very commercial member paysite. Hope my ad placements are okay. BTW turfsniffer, loved your avatar. Too bad ther will be no more future season of LB (or is it?). ~ Yeah I want that one!
Well, instead of making a new thread I thought I might ask your opinions on my ad placement with images. Should I put a border around each of them?
