i would like to start a site like you tube,metacafe..video sharing site....where should i start with..i learned HTML,CSS and now learning JAVASCRIPT...and what i have to study next..what i've to study appart from those?how can i start....can you suggest me the bandwidth and space required for such sites?help me!! i would like to start soon THANKSIN ADVANCE!!!!

Obviously the space depends on how many videos you want to host and the size of each video. Minimum is 10gb but this just depends on the videos. You can get video packs or gamepacks which will eat up 10gigs really fast.
I would suggest you to check www clip-share com . As it is one of the best youtube like scripts. For the hosting part, the best way would be to have a dedicated server, but if you just want to make some tests you can just google for hostings. Also if you want your users to have the possibility to upload their own videos then you definitely need dedicated server, otherwise it will work very slow. Hope this helps.

Just a bit of friendly advice since you are asking for free scripts What is the purpose behind you setting up this video sharing website, because my understanding would be that to make any money from the venture you would need to be competing with the big boys in the industry and that is going to be a very difficult process which requires a lot of investment at the outset - so it may not be the sort of niche to get into if you are looking to set up a successful site in a hurry. If, on the other hand you are just setting up the site for fun and for you and your friends to share videos then I think its a great idea If it is the 1st one and you are looking to make money then PM me as I have an idea for how this could be done but I dont have the expertise in programming etc. to set it up
actually what i gonna do is ..i'm not letting my users to upload their own video..what they have to do is they just embed the url into my site...i think embeding the url does not need space from my hosting..that is one person uploaded in you tube and just embeded the url in my site....if this is the case then what would be the server requirement would be??
Hi You should try PHPMotion.com Script. Its free and Reliable. The only problem is that it doesn't run on godaddy like servers, so you have to buy hosting space from their recommended hosting companies, but its great script to build video site. Thanks

You don't need any special script if you just want to embed the video from other sites. Just allow people to register. Put their embed code in text box. On a video display page, you just put that code dynamically for each user. And that embed code will display the video.
