Does anyone know anything about a company called Orange Soda? They are supposed to specialize in meta stuff and SEO optimization.

They are a new company based out of Utah. I don't know to much about their portfolio.

    Specialize in META stuff?

What does that mean? Meta (if referring to Keywords/Description) is somewhat useless. I still use them for several reasons, but they're not something anyone should 'specialize' in.

Sorry that didn't answer your question - I've never heard of them.

Just ask for their portfolio and ask if you can contact their past clients. That will usually do it.

I just had an staff and then a manager call me from Orange Soda yesterday to talk to me about SEO. They wanted a minimum of $500/month to work with me and I told them that's out of my budget. So in the end they suggested that I pay them $50/month to have my site added into online directories like yellowpages.com.

Has anyone dealt with them before? I don't know if I'm being ripped off or not.

    Thanks,
    SIA Web Design

lol - that's the most retarded thing I've ever heard in my life. I'm curious about what their reason was to suggest Yellowpages.com? Sounds like one of those "SEO" companies that caters to the "I barely know how to turn a computer on" crowd and takes their money.

yea, that's what I figured. But he said it's $50 to insert my site into top 50 online directories including yellowpages.com. Then he suggested that once they add my site to these sites, my site will never get deleted even if I stopped paying. I just thought it's worth paying $50 and not having to go through each of these sites myself and add my site. it's basically $50 to save me hours of work.

I also insisted on paying via paypal so I can dispute the transaction if he doesn't do what he said he would.

If you are only looking for directory submission find a company that specialized in directory submission services. If you are looking for a complete optimization package than it is a completely different thing.

I'm not understanding why it's a monthly fee, though...and why Yellowpages? Are these for brick and mortar stores? If not, then it's a waste of time. Even so, you could just do it for free on the best site on the net: by creating an XL spreadsheet and submitting a formatted version to local.google.com! :D

Technically speaking, you can get your Yellowpages listings for free if you submit to the right aggregators, I'm sure there's a tutorial online..Yellowpages.com pulls listings from tons of other databases out there.

From ABOUT US page of OrangeSoda.Com:

2006 was a big year for OrangeSoda—our birth year. Having worked extensively with such internet marketing companies as ah-ha.com, OrangeSoda’s founders began to realize that small- and medium-sized businesses needed and wanted to get online, but were too overwhelmed with all the logistics that come with running an online marketing campaign.

And so OrangeSoda was created. With their vast experience and knowledge in online marketing, OrangeSoda’s founders were able to take the guesswork out of online advertising and provide processes and solutions that are easy to use and affordable for small businesses.

Though OrangeSoda has only been around a short while, we have already produced impressive results for our large client base and have been recognized by Deseret News, AlwaysOn, and PodTech, among other professional and industry leaders, and were ranked #1 on Utah Valley Business Magazine’s list of “Startups to Watch” in its spring 2008 issue.

Looking forward, OrangeSoda’s main goal is to continue helping small businesses forge ahead in the world of online marketing. With our talent, technology, and solutions, we believe OrangeSoda will become the household name in small-business online advertising.

Have been using them about 3.5 months now. Rankings did go up and are hovering at about position 11-20.

The terrible thing about this is that we do a lot of SEO ourselves and don't know if the ranking are being affected by us or by Orange Soda. Figured I would give it 6 months, if their target keyword does not go to page one by then I'll pull it.

They say at least 6 months is needed to get good rankings which sounds reasonable I guess, the thing is if it does not work you don't get your money back. :p

Good luck danman, hope that works out. I think I am going to give them a try for one of my sites for the SEO. I hope that it will work out and that they can actually increase the position some.

I actually got a call from them too. But for another reason they wanted to work with me and have me send some of my clients to them for Adwords management and they would have me do some outsourced SEO work for them. I'm just happy other SEO companies are asking me to outsource to them. :)

But I never had a change to take them up on this as I've been to busy with my clients and don't have many Adwords clients to trade for SEO clients with them. They seamed pretty legit to me.
