Looks like its back again with last post being "Turn your Computer Screen into a Drawing Board" - posted by labnol on 7/07/2006 02:21:29 PM
it's also still up for me. I believe that you need to send a more official email to the hosting company. I wonder if they would copy the post if you wrote about them stealing your content, lol BTW I don't think you should worry too much about this. None of the search engines have indexed any of their pages, except the home page.
This kid will never go away. He doesn't think you mean business. You can write emails to him all day and all he has to do is ignore you and continue on. Get some techie buddies together and teach him a lesson. He'll never learn until you smack him over the head with a two-by-four. Unethical douche bags like this probably looks at all your talk of "copyright" as signs of weakness.
I am surely missing something .. tried all possible ways to open the site but it's showing a blank page for me. I even tried via Google translate and no luck. http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?h...nol/2006/07/aboutcom-turn-off-this-frame.html Do you guys still see it up ?
When sending take down notices to web hosts, it is extremely important to use a specific format for the notice and the notice must contain specific items per the DMCA. I posted the form I send to Google to remove Blogger posts that steal my content at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=99375&page=4, but I'll post it here again for good measure you will need to modify it to match your situation and it needs to be addressed to the proper agent: It is normally best to print out sign and fax this take down notice to the proper responsible party at the web hosting firm. It can take a week or so for the offending material to be removed by web hosts as there is specific proceedures each has to move through to protect themselves from legal liablity (hence the specific requirements of the form). No U.S. based web hosting firm will ignore this notification because if they do they will become legally copable. Just remember this is a legal document and misstatement of material facts or acts of bad faith can land one in serious legal trouble. Think of this form as a legal nuclear bomb. It will wipe out anything it is targeted against, but the reprecussions of missusing it could spell disaster. NOTICE: as I state each time I post this form, I AM NOT A LAWYER. This is simply the form I use, which has been developed based on instructions I have received from various web hosting firms in regards to what they have to see in DMCA take down notices to act on said notices. If you have any questions or concerns, you should consult with a lawyer. Good luck and may we see another content thief banished from the web.
I guess the moron who stole your content didnt like this thread - have you check on his domain lately? If you do be prepared for a system crash and make sure your firewall etc is enabled. I liked the music "you are an idiot" lol.
labnol.com and norton pops up blocking a virus attack. I'd be careful if I were you. I know Norton can give some fake alarms, but it could be something worrying.
I am sure it is an attack - I've had 20 pop-ups thrown at me with some crazy music thrown in, very amusing. I wouldnt risk visiting that domain if your not a chancer
everyone thank you for the suggestions.. i have tried to document my learnings at one place.. hope you may benifit from it.. http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/07/dealing-with-website-plagiarism-when.html
First thing you should do is whois the domain and contact their hosting provider regarding this situation. They may suspend the whole website or ask the owner to remove the copied content.
