I enjoy Amazon's wide assortment of products to promote and sell via affiliate marketing, but it's too bad their 60 day payout rule applies. With 99% of affiliate programs having 30 day payouts, having a 60 day payout seems to kill volume. I'd promote it more, but with a 60 day waiting period, it doesn't make we want to rush the promotions. Anyone else?
I don't know - it is a bit of a long payout period, I agree, but it doesn't bother me too much as long as the payment happens. After a few months it doesn't really matter which month you are getting paid for. At least it's monthly, imagine if you had to wait every 3 months like before to get paid, and then it took another 60 days! I guess it becomes a problem if you are heavily promoting Amazon with PPC. But then it's "just" a cash-flow problem - once you get going it should be sustainable. I wouldn't say it's my MAIN reason for not focusing on Amazon more. Probably it would be the relatively small commissions first and foremost...
I asked an Amazon affiliate manager about a custom payment schedule and she told me no. I think it has something to do with product refunds
I never know that there was 60 days waiting period before but I think that I would still promote them because affiliate marketing isn't the only thing that is giving me some money.
Yes - I think a 60-day lead period is not that unusual in business, it's just in affiliate marketing we want everything NOW! It helps to start thinking of your affiliate activities as a business.
But don't you think once you start getting and it falls into a cycle it actually becomes after every month. Only the initial 2 months will be a long waiting period.
It's all about cash-flow. Most businesses are planning their cash-flow 3 months in advance at least, so although I agree 60 days is quite long, it shouldn't hinder you in the long term.
I was thinking about joining the amazon affilite program but the 60 day payment period was pretty much a deal breaker for me.
