Interesting move by Ebay banning members from using Gbuy in any form of transaction, would be quite hard to police I reckon, but then again Ebay are good at Banning people
In the article they said it was only because it was so new, and untested -- I'm sure that once it's aged (haha, used against google with it's own reason) and people have proven it to really be secure and stuff it may be unblocked. People in eBay are just not sure what to think of it. Sellers saying "USE GOOGLE CHECKOUT!!111!11one!!11!" probably make buyers think "What on earth is that, scammer".
Google is a major competitor on the Internet to Ebay although they do not have the same business. I doubt Ebay will ever use Google's payment system. Ebay owns PayPal and I think you will find that excluding Gbuy will ensure all transactions pull revenue for Ebay rather than an external entity.
Gbuy could be a product of Jesus Christ company, eBay would still not allow it. Gbuy (Google Checkout) will ban ppl just like paypal. I highly doubt they are going to be more tolerant regarding fraud. Google is also famous for its bans without any form of appeal, and their bot-generated emails (Adsense, Adwords...etc).
Meh, personally I am no fan of Gbuy... as well as afraid of them storing my information or anything like that.
"Gbuy (Google Checkout) will ban ppl just like paypal. I highly doubt they are going to be more tolerant regarding fraud. When I applied for my adsense account I have had the most useful costumer service. I have received several emails from the costumer service board, answering all my questions, in a very personalised way. I found them to be much more "transparent" than paypal as far as costumer service goes.
Well, at some point they will have to work together. Just imagine that there was no way to transfer funds between banks but only to customers of the same bank. Just because they compete does not mean they will not have to have a common way to transfer funds in between them.
Google should sue if Ebay are preventing users from using it. It is anti trust and against the law. What happens if EBAY decide they do not like Chase Manhattan bank?
Well, they banned Cash payments so if thats your bank, you can't take Cash out of it and send it Seriously though, I think they will actually allow it at some point. Whjat they are doing is protecting sellers where an auction may end and someone sends them a GBuy payment rather then a Paypal one. Then when they can't accept it (or don't want to) they have to relist, etc. I wouldn't agree with most people in this thread. I do think if GBuy becomes a stable, used payment system they will add it to the pulldown option. It's a new service (regardless of who is behind it) and you can't expect them to swing the door open for them.
So they are not so much banning it as not recommending it? or not accommodating it rather? if this is the case then they are within the law I guess.
Basically, if you choose to accept that type of payment and it goes sour, you cannot recoup your listing fees or cry to them. ie. If you choose to accept a payment other then the one supported, you do so at your own risk Also, You can't require someone (as a seller) to pay that way and that way only. Otherwise they can ban your account. It is for those reasons it is a ban of sorts (you can't list it in your listing as a Payment) because a buyer may assume they have some sort of protection when in fact they don't
