Problems with HOSTGATOR

    Hi all,

I am 1 cranky man 2day last week I maxed out my reseller account which i only used for myself had no clients or other accounts set up just used it more for the bandwith so around tuesday or wednesday I purchased a dedicated server through hostgator after chatting to a sales rep via online chat.

the sales rep told me that it was a very easy and fast process and it was the same as my cpanel that i had with my reseller.
So i went ahead and forked out the $174US and got me a dedicated server.

They started my transfer on thursday or friday got an email today asking for all my database info which i cant get to because my account bandwith was maxed out..

its now monday and I am still waiting for my sites to be transfered, stuck with plesk which is nothing like Cpanel and was told i cant get a refund and to ring them (I live in Australia dont even want to think what it would cost to call) if i want to talk to a supervisor or someone else.

I have been with hostgator for a year and was a happy customer till now...

What can i do, i feel so frustrated and lost.

    My sites where making me $60 - 70 a day :(

If you are with hostgator they should transfer from reseller to dedicated without any problems regardless that you have max out your bandwidth.

Hostgator servers are on theplanet, it would have been better if you brought the dedicated server from theplanet.com itself..

ok this is really annoying me.. The transfer team started my transfer on the 19th of march..it is now the 24th and Im only just noticing files being transfered over after about 6 emails that I sent them..

When i spoke to sales they told me that it would only take up to 48 hours for the transfer...
And im sure one of my sites are stuffed as it just shows a plesk default page :(

I keep trying to get answers but just get told to wait a bit longer..

If there are people out there with hostgator or thinking about it and want to upgrade their accounts...be prepared to wait forever...

i normally give hostgator 10 out of 10 but now my opinions have changed...I paid good money for that dedicated server and its costing me more each day my sites are down...

I really hope my rankings in the serps dont get effected for any of my sites...

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR SO MAD

Hostgator is usually awesome. I am on a reseller account as well and have been looking at the servers. I am sorry to hear about your problems but I am grateful you posted them here. Its acted as a good warning.

I've been on hostgator for 1 1/2 years. The few tickets I've ever put in were resolved within a few minutes.

    Somtimes Things happen...
If should you have taken Backup of your site, then transferred it yourself. Also HG nowhere states money back guarantee with Dedicated hosting.

But in case of Transferring I agree is a mistake on HG part.Somtimes Things happen.....
Now as good host, HG should fix all your problems. also pay you some nice compensation for losses you made:D

And don't do that. You will repel on that. I was with them and they are a host full of restrictions. I moved away from them and they were not refunding my money. I had to then approach BBB for the refund which I got.

And what about the support? There's a difference in managed and unmanaged services. Unmanaged services are ok for people who are experienced. For ideal people, managed services are always preferred.

Friend, things like these do happen. Just open a ticket with them and ask to assign it to Brent Oxley, the owner of the company.

I too had a dedi with them and their sales team cancelled the order as they thought that it was a fraud. I contacted Brent and he's a real nice guy.

I am still with them and they co-operate me a lot. They even go beyond the scope of support to help me out. I am with them since Aug 2007 and I am quite happy.
