Hey I was just wondering if anyone who knows much about domains could tell me if virtualraffle would be a good domain name to use for a bingo orientated site, I haven't bought it but want to know if I should just focus more on keywords?

No. Just the opposite. What is brandable to some is garbage to others. Keywords are absolute.

virtualraffle, no keyword included, a little long. so I don't think it's a good domain for your usage.

Well as said here above. It's a good domain if you know what to do with it. You got to have a promotion plan.

I'd try and find one with raffle the first word- rafflespot or raffleworld- like that.

Keyword is absolutely your top priority, 'Virtual' has no relavance whatsoever to either bingo or raffle.

    I wouldn't use this domain.

You don't buy or use a domain because it looks 'pretty', at the end of the day, business is about profit, your bottom line, nothing more and nothing less.

You've got to have a plan. Simply by asking this question, tells me that at present you don't have a strong strategic plan of implementation in place.

Do some keyword research first, go to the Google External Keyword Tool (Google it), it'll be the top result.

Don't adjust any settings on the page.

In the white search box type in there:

    Bingo

Fill in the captcha code then click on Get Keyword Ideas.

Wait a couple of seconds for the results to appear below.

You want a domain that you can use that has a high number of monthly searches related to Bingo, don't consider anything less than 500 searches per month. The higher the number the better.

Go through the list and allow your judgement to sort out the wheat from the chaff, for a long tailed keyword with a high number of searches.

Write everyone down that you think has direct relevance to your site, looking at the long tailed keywords from the perspective of your potential visitors, in other words, put yourself in their shoes, what are they looking for?

You have a list in front of you after a little while, with column A showing the last months number of searches and column B showing the average monthly search, alongside each long tailed keyword.

Go to your domain registrar of choice, I use Dynadot or Moniker where you can input potential available domains in bulk to see which ones are available.

Just type them in exactly as they appear in your list, first with no hyphens / dashes and secondly with hypens / dashes, this will increase your chances of getting a very good available domain.

You want the .com if that is not available next try .org after that .net - do not bother with any others unless you are geo targeting, for example if targeting the UK market, you'd be looking under .co.uk

Make a note of the domains that are available with ticks, on your sheet of paper or in your spreadsheet.

Next go to Google and type in the "long tailed keyword" inside inverted commas as shown. Hit Search.

Look on the blue bar at the top of the page when you see the results, towards the right it will give you a number, that is the number of other websites competing to use this long tailed keyword string and/or phrase. The lower the number is, the better. Try and get under 200,000 for any long tailed keyword.

You found one? Register that as a domain.

Then comes your SEO, I could rattle on for hours, but I better stop there, hope that helps you out.

If you need a hand, give me a shout and I'll point you at my blog which explains it more simply and indepth.

Best of luck finding your ideal domain name.

I think virtual is a great indicator and assest to the entire domain name. Raffle, makes me think of other things besides bingo, but you said bingo oriented...so I guess if you have other things on there, it might turn out to be alright.

Not the easiest to remember. On the scale 1-10 it is 6+. Go for it, if you are on the budget.

If you're buying it on the aftermarket I probably would pass as it's not a standout name for what you're doing. You can go either way regarding brandable or keyword, owning a keyword domain can help give you a boost in the search engine rankings but with some good content and hard work with seo and link building it will make little difference. I would probably try and find something better or play around with fresh reg's and make up something yourself.
