Are you receiving a ton of traffic, well, maybe your not. The good news is, you don’t need a massive amount of traffic. You need to GRAB their attention and get better conversions.

Depending on your business model, you should set up each page so there is

    NO WAY OUT BUT BUY.

Obviously this could be difficult with a shopping cart set up or a blog, however, you can still make it work to some degree. You can limit the choices at the purchase page.

This does work well for a landing page situation where you are selling one product only. If you have nothing on your page - yep zip, zero, zilch, BUT the option to BUY.

dont' you think that forcing people to buy to get off of your site would cause more harm than good and probably get you sued for some type of antitrust violation?

What? Where is anyone forced? There's always the back button or the 'x'.

Why are you talking about suing?

I would agree - How are you forcing anyone?

The point is to have little opportunities to leave the page.

If people have an 'out' - if they are in decisive - they will use it.

But the object is to give the consumer a pleasant experience so that he will return as well as pass the word along that this is a good site to visit. I know I would be pissed if I went to a site and I had to go through a bunch of unnecessary clicks to get away ...

Good Luck with that strategy. Hitler tried it. He ended up shooting himself.

Wouldn't you rather offer a good, quality product that people buy because it can help them, rather than having them buy to simply "escape" your page? Assuming they don't know how to click on the "X" in the upper right hand corner?

You guys didnt read his post. You are not FORCING them to buy. Simply you are suggesting to them more clearly that they need to buy.

Its better to have a clear cut call to action for the customer instead of leaving the customer to wonder freely throughout your site.

You flow them to your order page without many options to click out.

    Do you want sales?

    Or

Do you want people to visit your site and never return?

Sometimes - You have only one opportunity to make the sale. The best thing you can do is make sure there are no distractions that will lead them astray.
