I'm new at Yahoo Answers. Have any of you found it to offer any substantial SEO benefits?

well, since it's no follow according to some, I don't know. But since it is owned by Yahoo, they make take some accounting of it, so I guess YMMV. Never really tried it though, but thought about it.

Hey good to see a Bible man here :)

Yahoo Answers is more a SEO/SERP by Proxy. Due to the nofollow, there will be no direct SEO benefits to your site.

However, when people search for things and a Yahoo Answers page is the first result or on the first page, you get traffic when they click any links associated with an answer (Obviously having your answer as the winner is a big factor here).

The above method of getting traffic is quite good - my record was approx 30K traffic from one question in a month. I still get approx 100 visits/week now from that question even though it was over a year ago.

It can be good for targeted direct traffic if you provide good answers, but it's nothing to write home about it and I guess it also depends on the niche. Some very niche topics may not have many questions. It's more used for direct traffic then SEO.

I get very good traffic if I get best answer. Once I get voted best answer I use social bookmarking.

Really? Considering that there are tons of questions a day, it wouldn't seem like it would be that hard to get a best answer, especially if you knew what you were talking about (and not just jabbering)

I have used Yahoo! Answers many-a-time.. And I can honestly say that I'd be able to provide more relevant, thorough, accurate answers than most of the winning ones!

So I think I might give this a go; I'd never considered it to be honest!

So thanks to OP for raising the question :)

    Be careful with this one.
I have had accounts banned because of links in my answers.
    Even well-intentioned, valuable info.
Competitors in your niche will report your answers as spam, and down you go....

Dont worry, you just need to appeal with yahoo, they will counter check, dont just quiet and accept.

Just as it has already been stated, even if Yahoo cannot act as a SEO, it can surely bring some traffic if you have some good contents waiting to be searched for. :)

Yahoo may not helped for SEO, But it is a good tool to increase traffic for the web site. Because most of yahoo answer members asking simple questions. They don't know about much, so easily we can get into our web sites.

As far as i know Yahoo answer is great if you are a level 3-5 user.
Other than that yahoo answer just helps for little bit of traffic, but forget it if you are thinking about backlinks.
