Reserving Expiring Domain

    Hello!

    I've found out that my .net nickname domain is about to expire in couple of months! :D

    weee! ive been trying to get this for a while now and whois search gave me expring info, now question is will he be able to renew that? Can't I have it reserved at the registrar?

    You can backorder it, but most people either wait until the last month to renew or have automatic renewal. In the event they don't renew, there is still a grace/redemption period and pending delete, so you would be looking at a couple months past the expiration date. Even a backorder doesn't guarantee you will acquire the domain.

    awwwww.... :( so how does back ordering work then? Do I have to pay extra? or advance?

    I never new there was automatic renewal...

    I wouldn't do anything unless the domain goes past its expiration date. Most registrars have a backorder service for a fee. Two of the best are pool and snapnames - but they charge about $60 if they acquire the domain.

    That's too steep for backordering that domain.. I think I'll contact the owner instead cause it's posted for sale.. I hope it's cheap... :(

    may be you can also grab it from aftermarkets, sometimes some registrars are selling the expired domains before dropping
