Hi, Backlinks have been updated and we are due a PR update in these next weeks, but are we due a Major google dance/serp update? Do they update all three at the same time?
Most of the time - No. The PR update many times has no correlation to ranking. However, the PR usually updated after the backlinks updated first. This could be a side effect by PR update to ranking due to change in link popularity and the links that "counted" by Google, but not because of PR update itself caused it. Again, this "Vince" update is the big one so the PR update may cause directly to your ranking since they have changed algo to calculate PR, link and ranking.
Just my personal experience -- Last major toolbar PR export was on 31st Dec --2008 In between - there were 4 updates of backlinks on GWMA --- and Google backlinks with link:mydomain Everytime backlinks updated - there were huge fluctuations with SERP -- but no visible PR update on toolbar. One conclusion -- While................ Backlinks/SERP and PR is updated continuously on Google - The results we see is nothing close to reflect it. If I were Google - I would have done the same -------------- to stop people from manipulating the power of PR and use it for SERPs.
You couldnt guide a trained seeing eye dog.. PS... You arent from the USA with that spelling and probably another dip shit that thinks he will get more responses if he ads a chicks name or girls photo..freak Agreed with poster that most of the time it happens this way laterz malcolm
SERPs changes all the time. Some times, the change is huge, I think, this happens regardless of change in PR and BLs. SERPs change very often if compared to change in PR and BL.
As mentioned the SERPS and Links are updating more often than the PR, although most of the professionals have long forgotten about PageRank as nowadays, many low PR sites are among the top ten websites.
I agree completely. Serps are more relevant for traffic and hence people mainly concentrate on it for good visibility. It is good that serp update is dynamic and takes place regularly, unlike PR update which is undertaken roughly every 3 months interval. Regards, RightMan
I disagree with what all you people are saying. Google updates the rankings constantly and continuously but you wont see any big changes in the SERPS because they only export the results every 3 months. Most people don't understand and they think that the SERPS are always updated. The reason why some terms float around is due to "everflux", but you'll see the big changes and your results when they update every 3 months. This is the problem with SEO. People always pass around the wrong information. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/whats-an-update/
My site ranking is always going up and down at the first page. Depends on if I update my blog or not.
Now a days.. Pagerank is no way related to SERP's.. unless your site has PR6+. I see daily tons of newbie sites with PR0 hitting the top of search engines... and SERP's mostly depend on quality content.
lot of persons are giving theior own opinion and most of opinions are clashing ...so ..can't undersatnd which one to believe...
I can tell from my experience that there are no serp changes when is a PR update. But... you can't be 100% sure.
The answer is simple, serps change all the time, nearly daily. They change depending on algorithm changes, backlinks, all sorts of things change them, but they change almost constantly. I can create a few backlinks with a certain anchor text, and within 48 hours see my site change positions. There are no BIG serp updates, they just always happen. The only reason it will be "BIG", is if they make a major change to the algorithms, which isn't timed, it's random, it just happens when they think of a better way to do things. This isn't an opinion, this is just how it works, so no need for any indecisiveness over what to believe.
