I know how difficult it is to divert your mind especially when something is happening in front of you and you can't avoid or ignore it. Just like a husband knows that his wife is cheating him and he can see it and feel it but can't do anything.
in my opinion the best way to divert your mind from a thought that bothers you is to ...Start something new that u wanted to do and could not do.
I still haven't made my mind so haven't cast my vote.. But I think heavy drinking is the option many men prefer for such situation....
Long question - short answer. Go fishing. Yesterday afternoon, it was off these rocks with Godrevy Lighthouse just offshore:
I don't think you really can divert your mind for long, and if it's something that's really bothering you then you just have to go through it I suppose.
The key is to compartmentalize anything that's tugging away at you. Put whatever's bothering you into a box. And then, figuratively speaking, put the box on a shelf. Take it off the shelf hours later when you're ready to address said issue. I can't compartmentalize, I'm lousy at it, and find it almost impossible to achieve complete or even minimal compartmentalization.
