Link IE8 does not work with major web sites, is difficult to code for and organizations question Microsoft's commitment to features. Firefox is easier to use: And some question Microsoft's commitment to new features: Building add-ons for IE is difficult compared to Firefox.
well, nothing special about IE8. but it has a compatibility mode where you can switch to previous version. Anyway I like the new widows live...its very cool
I know that many users will agree with. I've always hated all IE versions, including IE8. I doesn't have anything special about it. Plus it still has minor glitches. I really like using Firefox, it is very user friendly and it is very flexible.
Though I am not a great fan of MS and its policies, I seriously doubt if it would throw in the towel so early. I am of the opinion that it would still strive to make IE better and would continue to try and make this product worthwhile.... Whether it would succeed in its efforts or not....I doubt very much! Regards, RightMan
I totally agree firefox is a cool browser. But I just wish if they could make it lighter. it consumes alot of my memory
Can I ask why you would want to revert to the older version of IE? What's the point of upgrading. If there's something so special in the previous version, then surely it should be incorporated in to version 8.
MS has been struggling for years when it comes to the web. Ray Ozzie took over the realm as CTO, but they are still behind the curve.
ie 8 is better then I thought. we have been testing it awhile and it's not so bad. the final release is actually usable. we also can't ignore the 70% or so of people who use it. We also need to make sure our sites look nice
But not as good as promised and still 11 years behind web standards. Your site can look nice in any browser.
Yes, let's start the IE8 bashing early, like with Vista. IE8 is actually pretty solid. Pretty quick, and has a lot of nice features that I wish Firefox had. I think that if Microsoft were smart, they would just partly open source the thing (for add-ons/extensions), and that would be a huge game changer. IE8 is actually very usable, unlike IE7 (what a mess/piece of crap that was). I also think it's way, way too soon to write off Microsoft. We're just getting into the competitive spirit with browsers again, with Chrome/Opera/FF/IE8/Safari all vying for the top prize.
Early? It's been bashed since the betas have been released and announcements made, and rightly so. Compared to what? How so? As a web developer, I find it to be the worst browser on the planet, 11 years behind all other browsers in technical standards and practices. The Washington Post has an article on their test. They say it's 1/2 second or less faster, not that you'd notice. And I wish IE had a lot of features Firefox has. That will never happen but it doesn't need to be open sourced to do that. Anyone can write add-ons right now. The problem is, compared to Firefox, it's a difficult process. So is Lynx. Leave Microsoft and IE out of that statement and you might be correct. Technically, IE8 isn't even on the same planet as the others. As far as writing off Microsoft: Microsoft doesn't matter anymore Microsoft is dead
i Seriously hate Internet explorer, no matter how hard they try with their every new version, they will still be 10 years behind than other browsers. I wonder when google's OS going to hit the market, then windows will be dead as well.
Wow, from your thread and your anti-IE sig links. Are you trying to just build anti-IE sites for traffic/prifit or you just really hate IE and want to be driving the hater bandwagon? lol I use FF for it's addons, but I don't want to see any browser currently out completely fail. The more competition we have the better features, options, and speed we'll see while they each work hard to dominate and please consumers.
