Someone is linking to one of my sites from german porn forums and other bad locations on the web. my fist question is will google or yahoo i guess penalize my site for getting linked from sites like this? And how can i notify google of whats going on?
I have seen few webmasters complaining their sites were penalized, banned because of this reason.. It's time to worry.. I would suggest you to report it to Google..
Well yes i also lost My site in search engine just because of this .... My site have unique content and were on first page of google On major keyword . But when i link my site to when of bad reputation site my site get penalize . google remove my site from All keywords ...
I think it unlikely your site will be penalised. If the links were the other way around, i.e. you linked out to bad sites, then you might be penalised.
Google cant see who has added link to any site....he only know site domain and link placed on other website so if Google see your site linking to any bad site your site will get penalize for sure....
If you were to be penalised for someone linking to you, surely everyone would do that to their competitors? I don't think google would be that stupid. If you have paid for a link, and google have found out about it and penalised the original site then maybe?
I think a site can not get penalized for getting backlinks from bad sites, as if google used to penalize sites for getting such links, then people will start to do all this for their competitors in order to get them penalized. The worst that can happen is that google will ignore such links, that is, you will get no credit for those links. The thing that matters is that, you do not link to a bad site. That is, a link on your own site to a bad site.
Angilina is right, if you don't link back.. you should be fine I have quite a few links from hack and pron sites, and it doesn't seem to have affected me. Cheers James
Well, I have seen few threads reporting sites penalized because of this reason.. What about those sites.. Not able to find URL's of threads Now..
It'a an algorithm, it's not personal, it doesn't care who did it. If something has made your site seem less relevant to searchers, it'll offer up serps that reflect that. Having said that, generally it does filter out anything that's deliberate manipulation, whether it's positive or negative.
Google will not penalize your site for any IBLs. If however, you link out to a site that also links to the porn site you will be viewed as a link partner in a bad neighborhood. So, check all of your outbounds and make sure they are all squeaky clean.
Do you have any first hand experience at all? If no, please don't talk ideals, theories that Google promotes. I am very well aware that Matt Cutts and Google has assured webmasters time and again that Google's algo is sophisticated enough to detect these things and deal with it so that Competitors - can not hurt your site/sites. I can put your site out of SERPs in 2 months -- and - so can you put my site out. Let me know - if you want a practical TEST with one of your established sites. The ground reality is - THEY CAN. I lost two sites due to this type of jealousy by competitors or disgruntled clients/colleagues. @OP Please immediately report it to Google and tell them about it. Otherwise your site will completely vanish .
Without knowing the complete history of the site in question, then I can only assume that the site lost its position for some other reason. I am not aware of any definitive way to take out someones site by linking to it. In fact the first time I have ever heard anyone say that "they can" so definitely, is jhnrang Without knowing (and understanding) Google's algorithm, all we can do is take Google's word for it. aye. (and hope they are right) You are right, that is what they say.. and if you think they are lying and you know a way to prove they are, then I would suggest you put it in to action, document it, and issue a press release when the action is complete.. that will get Google's (and all webmasters) attention. Then they will be forced to do something about protecting sites from there competitors. Okay, if we are talking "established" sites, then I would like to see you take out wikipedia.org for the keyword wiki. (This is my only site I don't care about anymore ) Don't forget to document it, because it will make headlines if it can be done. Actually, I do have a site (a blog) I hardly use.. I wouldn't call it established, its about 6 months old, it holds #1 position for a 3 word phrase (which happens to be its domain name) Let me know if you want to have a go at that, and I will PM you the address (and proof I own it) If your keen, make sure you let me know before you start so I can put a blog post on there about it before you blow me off the map. Cheers James
Agree with you angilina, a site simply can't get penalized for getting backlinks from bad sites till and until ur linking that website back
Surely you cannot get penalized for inbound links from trash sites. It is only if you link to that site. Google just doesn't count the links.
