This is very simple. But effective! Especially when posting on classified ad sites.

1st create an email address (e.g. one you're gonna use on cl/gumtree etc whatever) in google.

Then, whenever you need 'another email addres' simply put a "+1" at the end of the same email address you have just created - NO NEED TO PHYSICALLY CREATE A NEW EMAIL. For example:

    myemail+1@gmail
    myemail+2@gmail
    myemail+3@gmail
    myemail+4@gmail
    and so on...

Classified ads sites see these as 'different' emails to the original . But, what's even better is the messages will all go to the original . So if you sent an email to myemail+57@gmail.com it would end up in 's inbox. This is great if you have an autoresponder or whatever your purposes are. Pretty cool, huh?.. Give it a test now.

I have personally only done upto +100 before. I THINK the max is 150 but I'm not 100%. Please some one correct me if I'm wrong.

P.S. If you don't know. Googlemail is gmail.

    Hope this helps!

One more tip: when you create a Gmail account, you actually get two email addresses - one is the regular @gmail.com while the second email address has @googlemail.com in the domain.

Thanks for the tip. Was new to me!

    +rep given

    lol.

I think it goes like this. Let's suppose you have a google mail account named "john@gmail.com".

Now, you can go to any site like Digital Point forums and register there. In the email field, you will type "john+1@gmail.com" instead of "john@gmail.com". Now, the registration confirmation stuff will be sent to "john+1@gmail.com" that directs the email to "john@gmail.com".

So, you don't need to create a new account to benefit from this.

And, you can use "john+2@gmail.com".... "john+150@gmail.com" (or something).

    Clear now? :)

I still don't really get the usefulness of this (although it's interesting)...

What good would it be unless you physically wrote down "myemail+22@gmail.com = the February 22nd campaign", etc.

And I've been living in the net for ages... and it was totally new for me ;)

Yeh, well that's exactly how you can use it. You can track "who is a spammer" for example, and you don't need to give your own main account info to people. You can give these alternative emails to some people...

Well - it's pretty useless, but cool though :p

It's mainly for craigslist and other classified ad sites.

It is obviously possible (after a good while) that CL will block the route email. But no worries, just start over. Hey, it's way quicker than keep setting up 100 gmails over and over in an hour.

lol.. you made me laugh, Web 2.0 Designer / clueless noob!

like all the other noobs here, you just don't have the idea what's going on around you.. especially in this thread.. acting like an ant in a stadium

on a slightly serious note, most of the noobs who have no idea what is going on, who thought it's a great tip (including you), are just kids, morons, the mentally slow who really doesn't know what is going on.

You say "great tip," just to say it, yet you really don't know what it is all about. hehheh

    Keep guessing

See how I did that, little noobie? :D

I enjoy insulting stupid topics as much (or more) than you, but I actually found this somewhat useful.

Let them newbies enjoy their tricks and let's get back to insulting the idiots.
