Here you go: http://poemnews.com Any comments, critique about design, niche, help, rants, comments, inputs etc welcome! Please give it a look and let me know! A couple of questions: 1) How do I replace the generic search box with adsense search ? 2) What all do I need to do to bring in traffic and is my ad placement alright? 3) Should I think about using CB on this later?
What are we critiquing? There is no content and it's a third party skin. Here's my critique: I admire the way you capitalized the "US" in "About Us" - very innovative. Also, a very creative use of brackets around the adjacent 'a'. Excellent work! Superb scansion on the four eight-syllable lines of poetic gibberish in your first post!
Try using a simple theme. When your blog grows up, you'll want visitors to quickly navigate thorough the blog.
I should've chosen the thread name with discretion. You can comment on: 1) If the skin suits the blog. 2) If the niche is good / bad / ugly. 3) How can I improve the design / add something as a design element etc. Also, I wanted help on certain things as mentioned in OP. I know it's very difficult to look at an empty website and actually comment but you really did that! I appreciate it. Thanks Nihang, I'll look into it.
1) Yes, I think the skin does fit the subject matter. 2) Not sure on the niche. Are you planning to re-write breaking news and current affairs in blank verse? Or will you publish news about poets and poetry? I think you may struggle to find regular material for the latter. 3) Can you add additional widgets on the rhs beneath your rss subscription button?
Honestly...it looks like you were searching for domains one day and found two unrelated words together and decided to put something on it. I don't see how you are going to write poems everyday about current events, when you don't even have one to put up for a review. I could be totally wrong here, but this seems like it will be an exercise in futility.
I'm planning to rewrite breaking news and current affairs. As for widgets, this is the first time I'm using Wordpress so I'm unsure about that. I'll see if I can though. Actually I started this project on a old old parked domain (proseandpangs.com), just accidently searched godaddy.com and found this. The domain was registered last! I moved the entire site from the earlier one to this. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with this but it's a fair challenge! BTW I just posted the first real entry. Please check it out. I feel the most important thing I have to do right now is to make my first blog post static (do I really need to do so?)
