I have a website which receive good traffic. Alexa rank is 39000 (and it keeps going higher)! I think it is good. I received around 3000 unique visitors per day. Some of them are return visitors. But 80% are not. I've put google adsense, but I only get a click rate of 0.55% and a eCPM of 0.68$ ... I've been told that the hardest was to get traffic ... I think I have overcome that ... now I need money. CCF
Adsense is the best PPC hands down, but I also use bidvertisers and I get about .40 per click, which to me is decent.
AdSense is a good ad network for ppc, but not a very good ad network for cpm. *Ppc - pay per click. *Cpm - cost per thousand impressions. You may try using an additional cpm ad network along with AdSense to get better earnings.
You won't get that high cpm for banner ads, for pop ups cpm you can get around that, but pop ups seem to annoy visitors and you would lose traffic. If you have high quality site I recommend Tribal Fusion, they will pay youa round 70 cents per cpm, but it's ver hard to get accepted by them. You can also try Snoork Ads, they pay around 50 cents per cpm and also Cpx Interactive is pretty good.
If 1$ eCPM is not possible, all I can see is for a proper business to survive, you gotta sell some product/services. You can't survive only with advertising unless your website is in top 500 (alexa).
Actually there is one ad network called AdsDaq and you can set your own asking cpm price, usually the best ask price in AdsDaq is $2 for cpm. So you will be getting $2 per cpm with them, but no will need an additional ad network with them, ebcause their fill rate is not 100%.
Which site is it for? Bumping an eCPM with google to $1 isn't all that hard as long as your ads & keyword targetting are optimized
